Part of the reason of wanting an AK style rifle is to not shoot 5.56 SO I found one I'm interested in, but on its side its labeled.... Lebanu INC RNKNKMA NY Ak-47 Sporter Made in China By Norinco Is this ok that it says AK 47? Or should it say MAK 90? Your good to go Really even though it says AK 47 on the side? I dont see MAK 90 on it anywhere... Its preban- they seem to be approving transfers or all rifles made before 94 its a norinco,it came in before 94 some dealers wont transfer them, some will. Is it legal? some say yes, some say no however they are being transferred in and sold to individuals in state. If you want one, buy it now because this will not last forever What was throwing me off is that it says ak47, so I thought ak47 was banned by name even preban. But does this not count because it is norinco? does not count because it was made before 94- does not matter who made it nor what it says. Call up Delta and ask if they will accept a transfer in and then transfer to you. For the sake of argument, I know a few dealers that will not touch the ak47 because they say it is banned by name. Other dealers are accepting and transferring Ak's find a dealer that will accommodate and buy it now cause THIS WILL NOT LAST |
|
Thanks for the info nutter, any chance that you know if JoJos will transfer them? I'll give em a call tomorrow either way.

AK47 s were banned in 94.
Then at one point they added AK47 "type". That's why I had to register, but forgot the date. But with the new law, it seems all pre 94 ban mfg are exempt. So would think AK47 shouldn't matter, just like Colt AR15's which were banned by name as well. That's presuming the dealer in question agrees with the interpretation. Many don't, but delta does. Def ask them before buying and spending money. |
|
Contact Lostman on here, he does all my transfers. Located in Seymour right off RT8.
With the new laws ANYTHING pre-94 is on and everything Chinese came in BEFORE 1994 so you're good. The "Mak-90s were only made to get around the 89 ban so that may be a really good deal. Text me pics of it if you can. Is the barrel threaded? |

I do them all from flats and love it so more ammo will be quite useful... |

So that's coming out and an underfolders going on but either way it is a slant cut receiver also. Is there anywhere to get 30 round metal mags that are limited to 10? I'm looking for 1 or 2 for the look... And yea I'll check out thearmory for some ammo. |

Looks pretty sweet! Hell yea man! Ive been hanging out in the Chinese AK forum now I just wish I could find a chinese under folder stock for it chinese underfolder stock and trunion Thanks man! But from what Ive been reading I dont think I need the trunnion. Once I pull the rivet "plug" out, the hole thats left literally is the trunnion. Then Ill have to cut off the tang that was welded on to support the thumbhole stock. But yea I was on the akfiles site and I couldnt find the for sale area...so thanks for the link! |
|
Get that underfolder stock. You need the trunion since that's what the stock is attached to. $200 is a good deal, maybe less if you make an offer.

Hey can you get a pic of the inside rear and rear of the receiver with the stock off? Your receiver might be good to go for an UF, but I would like to see if the importers modified it to comply with the AWB.
It may just have a rivet in place of the underfolder assembly area. And also I'm pretty sure you don't need a rear trunnion, that plus or cross you see is for the underfolder. |

It should ship monday so midweek nextweek I should have it. Based on everything Ive been reading that applies to this receiver it was an underfolder originally but that stock was removed and a rivet was sent through the rear part of the receiver where the UF stock originally went through the receiver. A rear tang was then welded on to the rear of the receiver to accomodate the thumbhole stock. All of this was done to comply with the new laws and to get the rifle into the country. SO supposedly all I need is the UF stock and the hardware to get it back to its former self. And then cut off the rear tang that was welded on, and to just reblue the area. I can find the chinese under folder stock without any hardware, but I cant seem to find any hardware for it anywhere. The good news is that any UF stock hardware will work as long as it only locks on one side. Some of them lock up on both sides, so those wont work. |

oh wow, that's pretty bad ass and what a great find!
i heard that only the egyptian AKs from like 83 were the ones that had the 3 holes, anything after the 89 ban wouldn't have that stuff since they made more rules for importing AKs and such. |

View Quote Read about the lebanu inc imported into NY mak90's. Pretty much everything I read about them says to stay clear of them because most have the 3rd hole(which is usually riveted through so it isnt Auto anymore, but the ATF says they are still NO GO)......this one doesnt though. BUT I finished the conversion! I recorded the whole thing with my phone, then my phone died right at the end so I didnt get to take a pic yet, so when it gets a charge Ill snap some pics and post em. |

Does the underfolder matter when using a 1.5mm vs 1mm receiver?

Does the underfolder matter when using a 1.5mm vs 1mm receiver? View Quote Well I bought a Romanian under folder with hardware and a chinese underfolder with no hardware. I couldnt find any chinese hardware ANYWHERE. So I used the romanian hardware with the chinese stock. The Romanian stock would have worked and looks very similar to the chinese stock, but I wanted it to be as original as possible. Lets put it this way, the Romanian stock with hardware was 30 bucks, the chinese stock alone was 140 So yea if anyone is trying to do this with a chinese receiver (1.5mm) the MUCH cheaper Romanian stock WILL work. Ive also heard that early Bulgarian UF stocks will work too, but the Romanian stocks are so common and look so similar to the chinese stocks that there is no point in trying the Bulgarian(unless you already have one). |

View Quote Thanks man, well from what I've read is that polytechs and any of the Chinese ak's are highly sought after and possibly the best receivers ( thicker steel than any other 1.6 mm vs 1.0mm) and nicest triggers. But of course this is just what I've read no actual experience... I'm also pretty sure that they are the more expensive variants....look up polytech underfolder on gunbroker... |

Hey mike, I've got a bottle of cold blue. I can throw it in my bag. I could let you have a few drops in exchange for a few trigger pulls.

Soft receivers are the reputation of some made in usa Bwest receivers. The internet is full of stories about elongated trigger holes, but short on proof.
