I'd try that.
Boy,for a gun forum you guys are very sophisticated whenit comes to food, a far cry from the burger crowd.
That is not a jab at all. I knew this would be a place to go for info on firearms, but food that's an added bonus!
MHC turned me on to a Thai place that I brought my wife to, that was a home run . I don't think she will go for raw food but I would give it a try!
Thank you guys!

 Burgers?

Katsup & Mustard
Main st Manchester

Order rare
Order parmasean fries with the dips
Order soda (hosmer mountain on tap )
Order bacon

Thank me later

I find it depends when you go, but I don't know what constitutes a great burger for you either.    I was there the other day with pedorerror, and it was a snoozy let down.   But was there before Christmas on my own, and it was pretty noteworthy.

For me, when they are firing on all cylinders, they are perfect.  Better than Plan B (who is excellent, but tends to overthink the hamburger)

Harry's is Harry's.  It's the whole atmosphere, nostalgia, and memories.   But still stands on it's own.

Doing some quick pasta and meatballs. She's on her way home now anyways. So much for my crazy night in alone

For eating the way I do my cholesterol should be way up there too but it's basicly perfect.

Wooden tap ...really? I just have never been a fan. If you want some GREAT pizza go to Paul's on rt83 and the bottom of Loveland hill, all of their pizza/pasta dishes are amazing. I have been eating there since I was a kid and my parents use to eat there before that (since they were teenagers) .

Only been twice and the burgers were both great.

Pizza is my next favorite (tied with pasta). We'll pick some up this weekend! DaVinces on 83 in Ellington is good, too. I grew up on Annes (Raffia Road Plaza) in Enfield, Greek pizza. Used to be soooooooooooo good but they changed ownership (and the recipe) a few years back.

Lemme see if I can find a pic

We uses to eat there a lot when we lived by Big Y in Manchester.

We still get our grinders from there at least once a month even though we live out off Rt 6.  Usually when I'm over there for a haircut (which is tomorrow)

My friend and I tried Catsup and Mustard in manchester a couple weeks back. Mediocre Burger at best. I would not go back. 2 soft drinks and burger with fries was like $40 before tip. OUCH.If it was great I would pay it but it was no better then 99 or Red Robin.

Wooden Tap has very good food. Burgers are very good. Basils in Stafford has great burgers.

I am with Zager on the raw meat with raw egg. YUK! I like rare meat but raw meat, no thanks. Raw Egg? No fucking way. I am not a big egg fan to begin with and when people get them with runny yokes I want to vomit. So disgusting.

The pizza gods have been most generous.  Already reserved for my daughter's birthday.  Well, actually for me.  Her birthday is a convenient excuse.

As for burgers, there are many good ones but it's one of the few things I really think I can make great at home.  Especially with Pat LaFrieda ground beef.  Must admit though that the kobe burger at The Capital Grille and the Kobe 2.0 at Max Burger are awesome.  Also, the build you own at McLaddens is damn good but don't order drunk.  Nearly everything is optional and you can  build a nearly $50 burger if you're hammered and not paying attention.

Mcladdens?

Where is that?

I'm a big fan of Kobe.  But prefer it in cubes.   It looses it's fat I an oily hurry if you go to small.  But that might only be from a few small samples of ground that I've had.

McLadden's Irish Public House on Lasalle Road, West Hartford.  Max Burger is two blocks down the street.  Been open since 2009.  Largest selection of beers on tap in CT.  Go to the website and look at the burger toppings and you can see how things can get out of hand quickly.  Also same thing with build your own baked potatoes and nachos.  I think you can hit near $60 on those.  A couple of guys did just that when drunk and were stunned when the bill came.

Place is good though.  Since I live less than a half mile from it, it's my home bar.  I go after work and leave before the youngins come in around 8ish.  Very, very nice place.  Greatest perk is I was one of the first 200 people to join their Founders Club.  I get any of those 80+ tap beers for $3 for LIFE.   Best deal in Christendom.  They have a back room that would be perfect for a CTHTF gathering.  I use it at least once a year for the CT Beer Socials I host for another site.

For the ultimate burger, bar none, if anybody goes to NYC, go to the Old Homestead Steak House and have their 20oz Kobe burger.  It is huge, unbelievably decadent and $41...which is a freaking bargain.

Thats genius! Thanks for the link and I hope your daughter has a fantastic birthday.

I haven't had the kobe but The Capitol Grille IS awesome. Ill have to try it out. Speaking of the capitol, City Steam Brewery makes a great burger (amongst other things), too.

Best burger I've ever had in my whole life, hands down, was at "North By Northwest" in Austin, Texas. I mean, THE best. It became an immediate requirement that we went back there every single day I was down there, at least once. I could not eat enough of this fucking burger. Im talkin - if my best friend were hanging off a cliff, his life clutched in my hands, and someone held one of these burgers out in front of me - I'd let him go without a second thought and inhale that burger. Unreal deliciousness - and to boot, they brew their own beer and its just as good.

And now we know what to do to get you out to a hometown shoot. Ha!

I just sent them an email to see how their booking etc works. Ill report back when I hear from them.

I can just see the poor waitress now - "Is this a work function? You guys all work together or something?"

"Ummmmmmm . . . . . .. . . . . . .

yeeaaaahhhhhhhh."

We will have to make a designated thread, with a poll, to vote on the date. We shall cross that bridge when I hear back from this place.

Uh....I'm kind of well known there.  They will require a large deposit from you.  But not from me.  I just know I'm going to regret this.  I just know.

If you would like to spearhead this it would be greatly appreciated. I gathered you were connected there, but I was not sure you were interested in exploiting that - and Im sure as hell not the kind of guy that would come out and ask you to . . .

I think you would find the vast majority of guys here are nothing short of great, despite the common campfire banter you see on here.

But I can only guarantee you will find no regret with me, as I have not met them all.

ETA: I expected a deposit, and I'd expect nothing short from all parties involved to find a fair way to make it work. For a little extra fun, I don't mind a little extra work.
