Other than the cute trick. Why are those magazines clearish? Are they stock HK mags. Are they reliable? Durable?

I'm assuming so you know they are loaded during matches vs having to look at the little #'s next to the holes in the rear of the mag

Eta: all of the rounds are loaded backwards in the mags

Yes, those are oem mags. To be used with the "Jet Funnel Kit", similar to a 1911 speed magwell.

Do you drink the 8oz'rs so you dont have to stand the taste of a full 12oz of Heineken at a time?

Yep you guys are right, it's an OEM mag for the Jet Funnel kit. Gives 16 instead of 13 rounds of  .40 S&W. Also uses a swollen mag well.

Forget the 8 or the 12 oz'ers, I go for the bombers. I like Heineken.

H&K had an add way back with bullets in backwards. Most likely some dumbass photographer. Now it's an old school H&K inside joke.

The guys out of state are screwing us less than our own "friendly LGS"....pretty sad really.

Is that one of the 10/22 receivers that has a bunch of plastic built up around it to emulate a "bigger" gun?  There are a few guys in the 10/22 subforum that go crazy posting these.  Kind of embarrasing if you ask me

I believe that I got to meet the owner of that gun at the range yesterday.  Looked to be shooting very nicely....he was obliterating clays with it.

It's a preban 10/22 with a 249 Para shell. Maybe a couple of custom parts too. I believe that the barrel was replaced with some sort of aftermarket.

Has one of those rapid fire cranks on the trigger (I was thinking it was a BMF, but it looked smaller). It seemed to be working pretty well when they were shooting it....better than I ever thought those things worked.

The start of another AR build, nicknamed the Blaster.  Not sure if I'm going to SBR a registered lower or go AR pistol on a virgin preban lower.

So far, I have a Spikes stripped upper and Spikes 6.8 SPC II 7.5in barrel.  I'm using a clamp on Armalite FSB and generic A2 flash hider.  I could use some suggestions on handguards though.

You can try the 2 piece free float Midwest Industries rail.  Cheap, and you can cut it down to the exact length you need and not feel bad about messing with a higher quality rail.  It uses the standard barrel nut as well.

I ended up buying the Samson EVO 4-EX today.  After reading this review of the samson rail.  I looked around to found it at a LAPD gear on sale, plus a 15% off coupon and free shipping.  So I bought.

I had thought about cutting to length a FF rail.  I didn't like the idea of spending 150 bucks to cut half the rail off.  If I was going with a low profile gas block, then cutting to length would have been an option.  I can find those in the EE all day long.

Once I get samson rail, I'd know which handstop I'll use to keep my hand out of the line of fire.

Like bendy said, its a two piece, a top half and a bottom. The cuts you would need to make on the top are ~1/8" each so it'd be very easy, but I digress.

Be sure to post pics of the Sampson when you get it on.

That looks fantastic Zeger!

Shadow, On the MI FF rail, you could have even cut the top rail so that just the FSB clears through it and had the rail wrap around the FSB, which would have been cool!

Here's mine, 8.5" blk barrel and a kx3 under a 9.2" rail. I like the kx3 peeking out a little. Only pic I have, but I'll try to get a better one later.

Damn I really need to buy that furniture set for my 870. Add that to my 2015 list in that other thread.

Do you do 3gun comps? That looks like a great setup.

Yea the magpul stuff is great, I picked the 500 up used from NGX with it already on it, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Yea I've done a couple now.  The rifle matches at Metacon, which are once a month, and open to anyone, have ended up being 3 gun matches recently.  I picked up the 500 for this purpose alone.
Havent used the G17 at a match yet though.....I'm transitioning from the M&P 9(which im horrible with for some reason)

Oh and the 4X ACOG gives me quite the advantage  Most guys use a red dot. haha

Andover has its second shoot in the spring. I'll give you a heads up if you're interested. The last one went pretty well but had it flaws as it was the first one but, I will definitely be at the next one. John was actually the winner of the 3 gun shoot in november!

Im joking, no plans for this to be a 3 gun set or to attain a Win 1897

Oh and the 4X ACOG gives me quite the advantage  Most guys use a red dot. haha

What sights are you using in the G17?

I found warren / dawson FO to be ideal for speed

Still haven't switched them out.  To be honest im a pretty bad pistol shooter,  sadly I never want to practice, I'd so much rather be shooting rifles.
But I want to get better with the G17, and im sure upgraded sights would certainly help.  Ill look into the ones you use.

Thats awesome! I've been thinking more and more about competitive shooting lately.

I already posted this pic in another thread, but it's the only one I have. Home brew AR-15 (3 gun notable parts are Giessele SSA, BCM comp, Aimpiont PRO, mid length gas system with T2 buffer), Remington 870 (polished action bars and bolt) and a stock USP (.40 S&W w?ith light reloads).

That was my only match, but I think your gear is just as important as guns. I used one padded belt for pistol and one for rifle/shotgun. Having the right pouches and orientation can make a big difference IMO. I'll try to get pics later.

I think its a great idea! It would be so much fun to run a course a second time with WWII guns and web gear. Put that time against your modern setup. I thought about doing an AK, Tokarev, and (insert pump shotgun of choice because I can't afford a Spas) setup.

I cut a channel in the gas block of my AK so the cleaning rod is now flush with the barrel instead of all bent and weird looking.

Looks good man, got a pic of the before?  I thought all the gas blocks had channels in them for the rods, mine had it, I guess that was something else that was banned on some of them

Yea John, it would be a really cool setup.  Something you wouldnt see most guys running at matches.  If you did well, you;d have some hefty bragging rights

Nice CZ.  Always liked those.

Santa was great this year.  Bowie Custom HK45 with the full Vickers Package (stippling, trigger job, radius mag release, fill in trigger trench) and Heinie Straight 8 tritiums.

And slippers.  Gotta have slippers:

This isn't the best pic and I hope you can see it. The cleaning rod tip sat about an 1/8" away from the grove in the FSB and the gas block bent the rod away. This is john's MAK (he cut s groove in his also) but mine looked the same before I cut the channel.
