Hell yes man!

There is a "What did you work on today" pic thread in the DIY subforum that's a great morale booster and self motivator. You should start posting in there.

Really it wasn't that bad with the exception of being itchy. I enjoy work on my home. What started this all was an extremely cold basement and a cold bedroom. I will be insulating all of the basement at some point and the heating pipes as well.

Nice job!!

I am going to spray foam the sills and the ceiling in my basement. I am hoping to stop the rest of the air leaks in my basement and to cut down noise from the basement workshop. My wife complains about noise when I am down there using power tools.

Working with fiberglass is always a pain.

Great plan. I'm in need of finishing similar. The foam will help with floor creek, if you have any. Don't rule out the poly sheets as well. Their R value is close to spray, but way cheaper. If you're looking to keep some heat in the basement, they sell it with the reflective, radiant barrier, too.

This used to be a 7.5" 5.56 pistol but after getting the can and deliberating I've made the conversion. It is now a 10.5" 300blk.

If anyone knows any good deals on subsonics let me know please. Also looking for a suppressor shroud or wrap if anyone has any input.

The suppressor JUST fits without contacting the handrail.

This is the best quality for price that I have found when you can get them at $10+ per box.  Can be found at other places online.

Time to learn to make your own.  I worked up a load this summer for my 10.5in 300blk SBR with the help of a friend's crony.  Only thing left is to tweak my adjustable gas block.

I'm back from late season archery in Illinois. what a awesome hunt. i must have seen 75+ deer and 30-40 in bow range.

on day one i saw 6-8 small bucks. a few came in bow range and hung out but way too small. no doe's up close but lots of deer moving across the corn in the distance about 75 -100 yards away. coldest day of the week with a high of 0 but no wind made a decent hunt.

on the second day i was in a different blind and it was just miserably cold. -4 when i got in and around 5 at 1pm but wind was blowing hard and made it a hard sit. still had deer come in but no shooters again. lots of button bucks, which are the size of doe's this time of year so I needed to inspect each deer with the bino's just in case a doe came in close.  i had a button and doe come in close but were watching the blind like a hawk. they were down wind and i knew i was busted. they picked up and booked before i could draw

third day had the most heart pumping action. i had a gimpy injured 8 come out of the woods who was not a shooter but a nice buck. a huge 9 was following him . they came on the outskirts of the corn which was about 50 yards . the 9 moved to the right in a little closer to about 45 yards. i was starting to get into position but he just kept walking on and into the woods.  the small 8 hung around for almost an hour. his left leg was hurt but it didn't seem to bother him. i could have shot him 50 times over but he was just too small. other small bucks came into the corn with him, but no other shooters other then the big 9

deer were crossing right out of range all week. you can see them at the second area of corn . 100 could have crossed that night. i lost count

hunting with a mathews halon 32. i dig it so far

i have to admit i got a little frustrated on the 4th night. i had 14 bucks come into my stand all at once. it was unreal to have that many. no shooters but i did have this messed up rack buck in there that caught my eye.

nice little 8 in the distance at the tree line. that was exactly 60 yards. but he was too small also

this buck had a really bad rack. the right beam grew straight out to the right and only had 2 points but was 13-14 inches long. the left beam grew down to his eye then down and out. i texted the property owner about him and he told me he has seen this buck before and told me to smoke him if i wanted. i got into position, ranged him at 42 yards , hooked up my release , and he walked off right as i was drawing back. i wasn't about to try and stop him at that distance, so i let him go. bad picture but you can see his head just wasn't right at this angle

the final night was a great ending. i had no movement at all until 415. out of the corner of my eye , behind me i had a doe come in. 10 yards away . i looked out of the other window and a bigger one was following her, and a small buck. i had to re position my chair several times to get a window open to be able to get a shot at either doe. these tower blinds are horrible for archery with very awkward shooting angles.  the small buck knew something wasn't right about my stand and was winding me, but the larger doe didn't, so he stayed in the corn. i finally got a shot opportunity, get the window open, ranged the big doe at 25 yards and let fly. arrow sunk right into her heart with a full pass through. they ran about 35-40 yards from where she was hit and dropped. i was ecstatic.

i continued to hunt the rest of the night until last light but no other shooters came in. plenty of small bucks checked out my doe but moved back into the corn. half hour after sunset came and i climbed down happier then i could be. its just a big doe, but being able to make a proper shot with a bow in that stand, in that kind of freezing weather was something to be proud of. i sat in the stands pretty much all day.  temps never got above 8 degrees all week and all the deer that i could shoot never got within range very long.

i found my arrow and although i knew exactly where she dropped i wanted to follow the blood trail. very seldom are we able to inspect our broadhead  performance and with the snow i did just that.

the slick trick razor tricks are just amazing (fuck you slick trick for discontinuing them)

will never get enough of that Illinois winter sunset

it was a great hunt and although i didn't get that big buck i went there for, i didn't even care. i could have smoked a tons of smaller bucks multiple times, but thats just wasn't what i was there for.

already booked again for next year for late season. i don't think ill hunt the rut ever again.

Started building my not a glock Glock.  I picked up a few of the version 1.5 frames when they were 50 bucks.

This is after an hour sanding with a my dremel and by hand.  I even opened up the uncut trigger guard to be more comfortable.

Not sure what I want to do with the mag funnel.  I'm either going to chop it off or shorten it down to where my pinky sits.  I'm kinda leaning towards shortening it.

Yes it's a PTR  K- (16")..Nothing quite like this in the past with neighbors..."Nice neighborhood" and all that (not wealthy though). No cameras, but a security system. Douchebag did not realize he had a .40 pointed at his head from inside the house. He was on the front porch. A year ago though my stepdaughter caught some dirtbag looking guy taking photos of the house, then when she yelled to him, he started running. No one else was home then.
Vernon-- it did not make the police blotter.
Regarding big calibers for home defense.. this incident got me thinking, why not consider having the option of a caliber easily penetrating through doors and walls handy, along with the option of something less penetrating.

on the second day i was in a different blind and it was just miserably cold. -4 when i got in and around 5 at 1pm but wind was blowing hard and made it a hard sit. still had deer come in but no shooters again. lots of button bucks, which are the size of doe's this time of year so I needed to inspect each deer with the bino's just in case a doe came in close.  i had a button and doe come in close but were watching the blind like a hawk. they were down wind and i knew i was busted. they picked up and booked before i could draw

third day had the most heart pumping action. i had a gimpy injured 8 come out of the woods who was not a shooter but a nice buck. a huge 9 was following him . they came on the outskirts of the corn which was about 50 yards . the 9 moved to the right in a little closer to about 45 yards. i was starting to get into position but he just kept walking on and into the woods.  the small 8 hung around for almost an hour. his left leg was hurt but it didn't seem to bother him. i could have shot him 50 times over but he was just too small. other small bucks came into the corn with him, but no other shooters other then the big 9

this buck had a really bad rack. the right beam grew straight out to the right and only had 2 points but was 13-14 inches long. the left beam grew down to his eye then down and out. i texted the property owner about him and he told me he has seen this buck before and told me to smoke him if i wanted. i got into position, ranged him at 42 yards , hooked up my release , and he walked off right as i was drawing back. i wasn't about to try and stop him at that distance, so i let him go. bad picture but you can see his head just wasn't right at this angle

https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/26169463_1522878221142442_2059027897149724211_n.jpg?oh=14f4f7979bc32c37caa67fe4d2e25667&oe=5AB61668

the final night was a great ending. i had no movement at all until 415. out of the corner of my eye , behind me i had a doe come in. 10 yards away . i looked out of the other window and a bigger one was following her, and a small buck. i had to re position my chair several times to get a window open to be able to get a shot at either doe. these tower blinds are horrible for archery with very awkward shooting angles.  the small buck knew something wasn't right about my stand and was winding me, but the larger doe didn't, so he stayed in the corn. i finally got a shot opportunity, get the window open, ranged the big doe at 25 yards and let fly. arrow sunk right into her heart with a full pass through. they ran about 35-40 yards from where she was hit and dropped. i was ecstatic.

i continued to hunt the rest of the night until last light but no other shooters came in. plenty of small bucks checked out my doe but moved back into the corn. half hour after sunset came and i climbed down happier then i could be. its just a big doe, but being able to make a proper shot with a bow in that stand, in that kind of freezing weather was something to be proud of. i sat in the stands pretty much all day.  temps never got above 8 degrees all week and all the deer that i could shoot never got within range very long.

i found my arrow and although i knew exactly where she dropped i wanted to follow the blood trail. very seldom are we able to inspect our broadhead  performance and with the snow i did just that.

the slick trick razor tricks are just amazing (fuck you slick trick for discontinuing them)

i continued to hunt the rest of the night until last light but no other shooters came in. plenty of small bucks checked out my doe but moved back into the corn. half hour after sunset came and i climbed down happier then i could be. its just a big doe, but being able to make a proper shot with a bow in that stand, in that kind of freezing weather was something to be proud of. i sat in the stands pretty much all day.  temps never got above 8 degrees all week and all the deer that i could shoot never got within range very long.

i found my arrow and although i knew exactly where she dropped i wanted to follow the blood trail. very seldom are we able to inspect our broadhead  performance and with the snow i did just that.

the slick trick razor tricks are just amazing (fuck you slick trick for discontinuing them)

it was a great hunt and although i didn't get that big buck i went there for, i didn't even care. i could have smoked a tons of smaller bucks multiple times, but thats just wasn't what i was there for.

already booked again for next year for late season. i don't think ill hunt the rut ever again.
What a great write-up, thanks for the story and photos. What a great hunt! Congrats!
thanks!

Looks like he just laid down. Wonder if he got shot/hit and ran away to die.

Nice find

That's a nice rackyou got there

Seriously though, that is massive for a CT deer. Very nice! Too bad someone probably wounded it during hunting season. I'm sure the guy is still kicking himself.....

It looks like the yotes got to it. I have seen some prints on my property and I'll be setting up a stand in the next week or so to try and get rid of them.

I've seen people that go out on nature hikes just to find antlers like this. They sell them for a good amount of money to people that cut them up for natural dog chew product. There was a guy at the Big E last year selling pieces for $20 and people were buying like crazy

Zeke loves chewing on antlers and Ill vouch for their expensive-ness. Its retarded. A six inch piece of deer antler does go up to $20. We wait to get deals on them under $10 here and there so he's all set. But I'm always keeping my eye open when I go out hiking. I would love to find a big rack to give him, it'd be hilarious and would last a lifetime.

Couple pics from our hike during the storm we had the other day. We went up Somers Mountain, it was raining on us by the time we got back down but it was a fun hike and it spent some of his energy.
