A good friend of mine is selling his farm in Dayville. It's 88 acres house, sifridson (?) post barn, inground gunite pool with jacuzzi and amazing stonework, pool cabana attached to two car garage. It's got a healthy deer population, used to have turkeys, but fishers and yotes got them.(currently in fisher decimation stage)
The neighbor is a pheasant hunting preserve and there are lots of pheasants, and some chukars on the property. $400 + k. Anyone seriously interested can im me for a link. ETA. I love my 30/30, you dicks. ![]() |

We'll shoot any `yotes or chupacabras we see also. Probably with a belt-fed. |

What exactly do you need to have in order to be able to shoot on your own property? My parents live on just under 9 acres, and my dad wants to set up a small out-door handgun range. On 2 sides of the property are family members who don't care, 3rd side is the road we live on, but the 4th side is lined with small pieces of property where a housing development is.

Not much really.
The first thing to do is to find out if your town has any ordinances against discharge of firearms. Outside of that, as long as it is "safe", it is legal on private property. However, expect LE to come out regardless. They really cannot do much. 9 acres sounds pretty good. |

I had heard, at one time, that you needed an okay from your neighbors for noise issues, and that you needed to be like 500 feet from a house or something to that effect. Any truth in that? |

The 500 feet thing is a hunting law. Okay from neighbor? Nope. It's your land. Always a good idea to be neighborly and give them a heads-up, and to be reasonable in regards to when you shoot. |

I was told by LEO it was 14 acres. That's in Plainfield and I was given no statute or ordinace #. All I know is I got a real itch trigger finger.

10 acres for rifle on private land- backstop is the area of concern . Each town can regulate as it sees fit - here where I live, there is no law prohibiting me shooting on my land but that will change w/the migration of new yorkers

Here is a first....I'm posting statutes! JAD is off his gameSec. 53a-63. Reckless endangerment in the first degree: Class A misdemeanor. (a) A person is guilty of reckless endangerment in the first degree when, with extreme indifference to human life, he recklessly engages in conduct which creates a risk of serious physical injury to another person.
(b) Reckless endangerment in the first degree is a class A misdemeanor. Thats it in the statutes. Nothing segregating rifle/pistol. Let's take advantage of this while we can! Various towns clamp down when the old boomers get cranky though. (Manchester and Tolland prohibit discharge). Blindfaith249. Can you PM me your addy, and I'll take a look at it via Google Earth and Bing and see if it looks practical? If needed, I think we could just do a pistol day if long guns were not practical. |
