Damn, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I had an old Winchester Bolt Action I knew had some collector value. Howell only offered me $200 towards a trade-in after telling me how it wasn't worth crap. I brought it down to Kittery and they gave me $400 cash. The Portland crowd who don't know any better, keeps him in business. He had to swing towards more high-end models/brands since Wal-mart open in Windham.

They do have good prices on Bushmasters. They must get a bulk rate discount since I bought one for dealer's cost (advertised). They tried to sell me some overpriced USGI mags they got from someone in the Coast Guard (pre-ban). I have more than he does.

BTW, Four Seasons is moving across the hall within the month. Carl gave me a tour, and I estimate about 1.5x the space currently available (they are taking over the space formerly occupied by USA Demolition).

Got another one.

Sporting and hunting Depot

Located in Charlestown, NH.

A small place but he's got all kinds of interesting stuff in there. Doesn't have much of a firearms inventory yet but is growing. Always has plenty of shotguns, muzzleloaders, and hunting rifles.. He's starting to expand with handguns too. Has some military style rifles usually as well.. I bought my G3 clone from him. Has a lot of ammo.. Tries to always keep some military ball ammo in stock from old 8mm to XM193.. Lots of hunting stuff...

I give 'em two big thumbs up. They are ALWAYS eager to help you get what you need if they don't have it.

From what is it...route 5? That goes under I-91 in Springfield, Vermont..(Lived here for 20 years, and can't remember the actual name of that section of road...LOL).. Cross the old toll bridge into Charlestown, NH and take your first left.. It's out that road on the left, can't be more than a mile or two.. You'll see the building its right in plain site.. Has a 'lil fence around the parking lot.

How true you are! Also seems as though unless you're a regular there, you're a nobody. Oh, they also change prices on you. Was told by an employee that they charge $25 for a transfer. Had a print-out froma website showing transfer fees they charge too. Had them do one for me and - bang - they charge me $25 more...$50 for a transfer and I had to show them how they screwed up the log book! Never Again! I live 10 minutes away but still will drive out of my way to save $5 from thier crap. Heck, he ain't got the selection but is a friendly and personable guy over at Gulf of Maine shop in Raymond.

Oh, the Hummr is an H2 - or actually a Suburban with a box.

NH Ordnance, Bridgewater Hill Road, Plymouth NH
(603) 968-3205 Tuesday-Saturday 10-5

Mostly sells military rifles and pistols, not much hunting stuff. Some of the best prices I've found in NH.
A little off the main road so it might be best to call for directions.

I guess we are kind of stuck

Howell's has decent selection with high prices

Gulf of Maine has high prices and not much selection

Bennets is a great place to go but is only open wed.-sat.

Kittery is far away

We need to get together and open the mother of all Maine gun shops.

GOSH! I got to back you all up here on this one too!!!! I just moved to Gray, so unfortunately Howells is quite convenient for me. The other week, i see two frickin new sleds out on the front lawn!!! those are what, 10k a pop?! You cant charge rediculous prices, then flaunt your money like that! Man, im glad others feel this way. With that said, he did give me a good deal on a stripped Bushy lower last week!

But Mainers, do not despair!!! One shop i HIGHLY recommend, is Tri-State Police and Fire Equipment. Owned by Dave Fleury, of the old "Fleury's Sporting goods". They are great Guys. The shop is in Winthrop, and at the time i was living in Cape Elizabeth, well over an hour drive. I would make that trip at least every other week. What they do: Lots of police department trade ins. You have a buddy who wants into a good handgun cheap, thats your place to go. They will also order anything new, and a lot cheaper than i have found at any other store in Maine. They dont necesarily always have the largest selection on hand, and every once in a while i will see something where the price is a little iffy, but more often than not, they have the best prices. Last i remember, always a few AR's in stock, handful of Benelli's, Glocks, S&W, and like i said tons of Dept trade ins.

Just tell them Patrick Sullivan sent you... then they will just laugh

Couple more Southern Maine items.

First, I'll have to back everyone up...stay away from Howell's. Crazy prices, poor service. And I cut them slack for awhile as I took my CCW training class there. They were okay for that, but the prices and service suck. There's a guy doing reloading and other stuff out back now, and he seemed okay, but you better know someone or flash some bills around at themain counter.

For transfers, I've used a guy just outside of Gorham. $20, he gives you a copy of his ffl and you handle the rest. Name escapes me at the moment. Has a home shop. He's recently started charging sales tax though, so I'm shopping...

...and found Art at Eagle Guns in Limerick. Same fee, no tax (since I'm paying direct!). Haven't actually met him...e-mail only so far. Seems okay. Anyone know him?

The guy in Raymond is fun to talk to. WAY on the right (like most ppl here on the board! :) ) Inventory is terrible though. I know individuals who have as many guns as his shop.

There's a cool shop up around Berlin, NH. Inventory nearly rivals KTP. Can't recall the name. But they are over the border, so you have to do transfers.

Has anyone ever worked with Northern Maine Tactical Supply? Class III place. I've e-mailed them for info on transfering a supressor, but they've never replied.

Nice thread. let's all try to keep it updated.

Wow, didn't realize there was so many Arfcommers in my backyard!!!

I'm in Gray too, about 5 minutes from Howell's. Howell does have good deals on Bushmasters though, I'll give him that. I'm also a 'regular' there if you can call it that, so I don't get hammered on so much, in fact I've gotten a few sweet deals there, but I had to earn it.

I've never been to Gulf of Maine....I'll have to check that out. Cool stuff, I haven't checked this thread in awhile!

Funny too, how we all agree on Howell's!!!

Collector's Firearms and Militaria aka Affordable Firearms, on Route 38 in Pelham in the double deck strip mall. Good prices, lots of military and other unusual stuff, fair on trade-ins, pleasant to do business with. They're at most of the shows, too.

Dave's Sporting Goods, Route 125, Plaistow NH, on the left heading south near the Yamaha dealer (and the adult bookstore for most of those who frequent this site ). A class 3 dealer with a good selection of assault style "sporting goods" and handguns. Good selection of ammo.

Stateline Firearms, Route 125 Plaistow NH, About 1 mile north of Dave's on the other side of the road in the same plaza as the Early Bird Cafe (Plaistow Commons?). Stocks real guns, airsoft guns, etc. At most of the shows, too.

Lewis Arms, Route 3A, Bow NH. A little pricey on some items but not all. Very nice shop. Specializes in fine shotguns and hunting rifles. Great handgun selection, too- Stocks CZs as well other handguns not normally seen. Does have some ARs and a few M1As. Used to be the gunsmith at Riley's and is regarded as one of the best in the area.
lewisarms.homestead.com

Costa Arms, Church St., Kingston NH. Heading south on 125, take a right just before the Banknorth/Dunkin Donuts plaza, then immedeately take a left. Look for the log cabin.
Good handgun prices, decent guy to do business with. Visit here, Stateline, and Dave's all in the same trip.

I've also heard good things about Big Al's gun and reel in Derry, but haven't been in there myself. A small shop off of the owner's house.

I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but the Kittery Trading Post has an office in NH which allows NH residents to buy handguns from them, and buy all guns without the Maine sales tax.

Sportsman's Trading Company, Route 101A, Amherst, NH (Just outside Nashua). If you like having a pushy used car salesman selling you guns, this is your shop! Nothing really bad about the place, other than that.

Seacoast Firearms in Hampton recently called it quits in case anyone was wondering. Too bad .

Wanted to make sure someone mentioned Bullseye Shooting Supplies of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Been doing buisness there for more than 20 years. Owner is outstanding, takes the time to discuss anything you need to know. Reloads any caliber, usually has reloads for all calibers in stock. Doing buisness there is always a pleasure, obviously can't say enough.

Any good shops in the Danbury, CT area? Hoffmans and The Newington Gun Exchange have been great to me, but its a haul from where I live all the way to Newington.
