Bone Creek Gun Club is hosting an Appleseed rifle clinic October 22-23, 2016.

Here's the online registration link You can also register on site.

Adults 18 & older pay $60
17 & under pay $20.
LEO's, all military and elected officials shoot free.

Appleseed is old school precision rifle shooting with an emphasis on using proper stable positions (standing, kneeling, sitting and prone without a bipod or rest) and a sling to enhance stability.  You'll also hear stories of Revolutionary War heroes and events you didn't learn in school!

Notice - Smith & Wesson 15/22 rifles have been temporarily banned from Appleseed while S&W and Appleseed work to determine the cause of malfunctioning rifles that have created safety concerns.  That may or may not change before this event.  S&W centerfire AR15's are allowed.
Email me at [email protected] for the latest status.

Who can shoot - Anyone who can safely handle a rifle.  To score Rifleman will require exceptional shooting but even a less experienced shooter will learn skills that will allow them to improve quickly.

Think you're too good to benefit from Appleseed?  Take a postage stamp at 25 yards or a 4" square at 100 yards and try to put 5 rounds into it.
That's the Rifleman standard of 4 minutes of angle.  Be sure to do it prone without a bipod or rest of any kind.  If you can do it then come shoot a Rifleman score on the AQT, claim your badge and then sign up as an instructor.  We can always use more skilled shooters behind the firing line!

How to prepare for Appleseed

Appleseed website

Appleseed forum

Shooting is done on miniature targets at 25 yards that represent shots of 100 - 400 yards. Any kind of rifle is welcome but semi-autos with peep sights or scopes and removable magazines work best.

The short distance makes rimfires like Ruger's 10/22 an excellent training rifle.
Centerfire rifles like the AR, M14, FAL, etc. are welcome if you can afford to feed them!
There may be a chance to shoot to 200 yards on the second day if you shoot centerfire.

Hope you can make it!

Yes for the time being.  I forgot to include that.

There is a chance that will be resolved before our event but no guarantee.

What issues are going on with the M&P15-22?

Haven't heard of anything safety related.

Appleseed as an organization has had a number of problems with them on the firing line including doubling, firing on trigger release an out of battery discharges (one resulted in a minor shrapnel injury to the person beside the M&P 15/22).

There were enough of these and at a rate higher than other rifles that Appleseed has disallowed them from the firing line until S&W can determine what the causes are and assure Appleseed that it is no longer a safety concern.

There was a thread in GD a couple weeks ago discussing it.
