i'm not sure "outrageous" is accurate, but it's kinda hard to document or link to something that goes missing without warning .
poof, someone's gone with no explanation, unless someone contacts them and posts.
can't link to a hole.

and not all MIA's were banned, a goodly number just got fed up,interests shifted, or moved.(like DoubleARon moved west, or Regular122 went to greener pastures)

an example is Ndenway, not banned, just not (as) active.

It should anger you. Considering the last two outrageous bans of members we have seen in this forum, it is not funny in the least.
With the things I have seen pulled in GD by both staff and moderators, I don't think it is the least bit funny.

Mcant was just gone, supposedly banned while he was overseas on a disaster relief mission.

If I remember right, Wingman made some comment on it. He might know the particulars.
This hometown forum is a ghost town compared to when I first started lurking here.
I do know that GD is a quagmire full of provocateurs that love to get others banned. If I responded in the same manner I was addressed in some threads I would have been banned a long time ago.
And still the same provocateurs do it again and again.

While I have never participated in any of the Oklahoma hometown events, they seem to never happen anymore. The comradery seems to be a thing of the past.
I do remember Mcant made efforts to gather funds for Ndenway when he was hurt so badly.
While every group has individuals that may dislike others for their opinions, I have the idea that many of the past members here would help out even those they disagreed with.
I don't see that in GD or other areas of AR15.com.
I do know that many of those here will help the other members and that is highly commendable and very desirable IMO.
I hate to see that destroyed over petty disagreements.

As I recall Mcant got into it with a Site Staff member on another one of AR15's forums, I think the situation was very similar to his dad's situation, when you go in, poke and prod the wrong people, bad things can happen. How do you avoid it? Don't start an argument with the wrong people, pretty simple.

Are you spelling "Mcant" username properly, as I can't find that one. I'm curious to see whom you are talking about, and why this person may have been locked.

As to the Site helping others out, this site and it's members have done quite a lot over the years. While I can't give the exact number, we're approaching 6 figures in fundraisers and other efforts, going for various members and causes.

All of the HTFs have tapered off in activities on and off the site over recent years. Some of it was due to changes in the site, members just drifting away, or the price of ammo. The number of shoots I've seen posted about in the HTFs started to drop way off as ammo prices soared. Long gone are the days of going to a shoot, and blasting 1000 rounds of ammo in an afternoon.

ETA: Yes, GD is a cesspool and you do have to learn how to navigate that forum. Some members can do so successfully, while others get sucked in, and drown in the shit.

While we may not have a whole lot of active members left in the OKHTF, most of us are always willing to help each other. Dan and his son Matt, are both extremely active helping people in all kinds of ways. They are both great people that I have much respect for. Ironically, they were both banned for something that happened in the GD I believe, I have no idea what for and it doesn't matter. It just goes to prove that the GD can bring even the best folks down with it's stupidity.

I'm still pretty disturbed about a moderator trying to provoke me into attacking him. He used terms "not much of a man, without honor" etc when I disagreed with him.
I reported him as trying to provoke me into insulting him.
As far as I know, nothing came of it.
When you say "cross a line", just like Wingman stated, there very much appears to be different lines for different people.

That doesn't wash well with many people but that is life.
I see the same people in GD provoking people again and again.
Some staff members take their sides when it is more than clear to many what the provocateurs are trying to do.
I am all for civil discourse. It gives new perspectives to those who look at the world with open eyes.
It doesn't seem to happen in GD very often though.
The trolls and their attack dogs come out in force when certain opinions are expressed.
Again and again.
Way to often people respond in the same manner they are addressed then punished for it.
It just hurts the website in the long run. All you will have left some day is attack dogs and sheeple.
It looks like it may be dying to some degree in the hometown forums like you said.
The rest will follow in a few years IMO.

As I said, GD is a cesspool. I can't comment on the issue you had with another Mod, as I didn't see it. If you can provide a link, I'll take a look at it.

Unless you truly screw up, you really have to work hard to get banned. danc had 18 warnings or locks before he finally got the final ban.

I know it may be hard to believe, but we really don't like having to lock people. Even when we do lock someone, we still try to figure out a way to resolve the problem.

I want to believe you about not locking people but after old_painless tried provoking me, and what Wingman said about not provoking certain people, and what else I have seen repeatedly in GD, you are either unaware of what is happening, or turning a blind eye to some people.
I think it is more entetaining to lurk more than post and definitley far safer. I am probably far better off not posting.
I'll be incapacitated for awhile with surgery anyway soon. It is now probably an appropriate time for me to say adios.

As far as current traffic, the forum that I am on Site Staff, traffic is down about 50% from last winter, I figure it will pick back up when the weather starts to get cold and people are spending more time inside, more time inside means more time in front of the computer.

The fault doesn't lie with the the site staff.. It lies with the people that used to infest this place. They were hell bent to run anyone off that had their own opinions, and was capable of thinking for themselves. They would "bully" via the internet until someone... usually me... would get sick of their pathetic stupidity and say something that they could hit the report button over. The individuals that don't come around anymore are the reason the HTF is a piece of shit now.

The site staff isn't responsible for the silly shit that used to go on here. They were responsible for stopping it..... AND they didn't!!!

THAT is Why the OKHTF has become a deadzone.
