Quote History Quoted:
Long before the concealed carry law one of our shooting club members was a police officer, he was against a permit, saying the officer should make the call, that with a permit an officer wouldn't be able to disarm a drunk who was carrying, and the vast majority of officers could care less if a law abiding citizen had a pistol in their car.
Our concealed carry law took care of a guy in a bar drinking while carrying, so that's no big deal, but I always had a problem with the officer discretion, in any department there are always a few hard cases that would arrest anyone with a pistol in their car, no matter who it was or what excuse they might have. I preferred that it should be made official and make sure that the good guy could carry and not have to worry about being arrested.
That same guy that wanted officer discretion is now retired and teaches concealed carry classes.

While the thought is great to have, in reality not so much. LEO discretion is comparable to a little fish in a big pond, some will eat the worm and some won't.
Here in Georgia we try and work from the top down with our elected officials. While the system isn't perfect, we are gaining ground. Georgia HB60 just went into effect July 1st expanding our 2a rights. We had it great before, but it's even better now.
This are just a few major parts of what just went into effect here:
