I need a cylinder to replace the one I have.  Where can I find another one?

Here's my question: How did you wear out the cylinder of a Ruger?

Hang tight and I will get some pictures for you. I bought the gun cheap. It has probably had a shit load of +p or hot 38spl shot thru it. After I shoot .38spl I can't get .357 to load into it. Not kidding. It was only a 300 gun so I ain't pissed, but damn!!!

I know these aren't the best pics around.  Sorry.  BUT you CAN see the erosion of the cylinder in them.  it is pretty bad.  The barrel is still like a mirror tho... That's what beats me.  Anyways... Here it is.

Looks like they bought a bunch of used revolvers, probably retired service revolvers, and broke them down for parts.

I hope it looks better than the one I have.  I am gonna be PISSED if I get one that looks like the one I put pics up of.

Something just occurred to me.... How do you time a revolver???

A stopwatch?

Seriously though, I have no idea.

Just curious, I know there were .38 Special only GP100's, are you sure you don't have a .38 Special Security Six? Would explain why it won't load .357 magnum.  I read somewhere that a buttload of Ruger .38 Special revolvers hit the market recently that were "well used".

Thanks Wingman.  I will give that a try.  IF worse comes to worse I will have some spare parts.

No... it says .357 on the barrel.  And I have shot some 357 out of it.

Thanks Brandi. I am getting close I think. I soaked it in Hoppes #9 and then put an oversized brush on a drill. I proceeded to brush the hell out of it with the drill on high speed. It cleaned the little fella up almost to new! You can still see where there has been a bit of flame scoring , but it looks 100 percent better to me. Lol

Of course the GP100 is an improved model, but the Speed Six and the Security Six are both good guns and are out there on the used market.  I have a 6" Security Six that I won at an Edmond PD pistol match, and a Speed Six with a 2 3/4" bbl I bought as a car gun.

Nice wheel guns.  I wouldn't necessarily say the GP100 is an improvement over the Security Six.  The GP100 is bigger and heavier than the Security Six.  Think L-Frame vs. K-Frame Smith & Wesson.  The GP is also cheaper to manufacture, and because its grip frame is completely hidden by any grip you put on it, a blemish on the grip frame doesn't ruin the entire gun like on the Security Six with factory grips.

If Ruger would come out with a Security Six sized gun with the GP100 grip frame, I'm sure they'd more than make their money back on it.  I know I'd buy one for sure.
