Just got through helping the neighbor and the Cache Fire Department put out neighbors 3 acre fire. Started with fireworks that exploded at ground level. Took about 3 hours to get it under control. At one point the flames were as high as the top of the power pole on his property. Fire departments radio was burning off the hook with calls all over south of Cache. One trucks water pump failed and they used so much water, they had to refill from the neighbors pond. They left their large truck on the county road as the department didn't have enough personnel to man it, just a driver. They used it as a resevoir for the smaller trucks till it ran dry.

Got some mighty fine first degree burns to show for my efforts. Both hands, left arm and the left side of my face. Doesn't look like anything will blister up to second degree but we'll see how I fair over night. Hurts to hold my beer, damn it.

Fire works are fun, but are they worth the trouble they cause? We always pick up some kid with a burn or a damaged hand or eye. Loosing property or home to a damn fire is just not worth it. What do you do?

Someone recently told me that the reason why we have so many morons in the world is because we keep saving them from themselves. Natural selection does probably play a role.
