THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I went to Pittsburg, KS this past weekend. Going to KS, I got on the Turnpike from 69 by Big Cabin and exited by Miami. The toll was $4.00, which was no problem. In fact, it was really a bargain compared to the tolls around Dallas-Ft Worth. I came back to Texas exactly the same way in reverse. The toll was $4.00 again, but I got a $2.00 refund when I exited by Big Cabin. Why is it cheaper going west rather than east when it is the exact same distance?
Thanks. |

Thanks. Its because you did not drive the full length that time. They refunded the amount not used. |

Sharpshooter,
Thanks for the reply. I drove the same distance each time: 69 to Miami, and then Miami to 69. |

Screw the people going out of state. Take care of the ones coming in to the state.

What happens if you go through the pikepass lane without an account?
The NTTA in Texas sends a bill to people without an account. The toll is about double. Travel tip for non-Texans: The NTTA does not bill people with out of state plates. They don't (or can't because it is too much trouble(?), costs too much(?), can't enforce non-payment(?)) bill people with out of state plates. |

A flashing light goes off and if a patrol unit is there they will chase you down and give you an outstanding citizen award aka citation. If no one is there to chase you down, they send the citation to the registered owner's address of the vehicle. Not sure if that applies to out of state or not. |
