It is the price you pay to use Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation whether you hunt or just target shoot.
Hunting is not great there. Deer hunting is done by drawing for Lexington WMA if I remember right.

Is the range near Pawnee Lake a WMA range? How long of a range is it?

Since you're in my area, these are the "usual" ones. Duncan (next to Duncan Lake) SCRAP, Duke west of Altus, Doubletap down in Wichita falls.

Then there are the ones up OKC way. H&H (indoor range), Dans favorite spot.

Fort Sill's Personally Owned Weapon (POW) range, also known as MB1, is closed. Third hand info indicates a muzzleloader had a round ricochet up and over the bluffs and impact the windshield of a vehicle at the Fish and Wildlife center. Post or Garrison commander shuttered it and had the range moved to the East range area. No shelters, overhead cover, or berms. No 25 meter zero. Rifle looks to be out to 100 yards, pistol maybe 25 yards. No facilities.
