As some of you may be aware, my first "love" with firearms was and is the M1 Garand. At one time my obsession led me to amass over 25 of them. These 25 were not rackers either. I had complete restorations or original representative rifles from an 11-40 keystone spring 5 digit to some of the latest 6 millions. I was an active member of the GCA, participated in their excursions to Anniston and at one time was a candidate for their Board of Directors. Economics and a deteriorating marital situation led me to dispose of most all of them. At this time I have only three M1s, but they are unequalled in any collection in the US. If any of you have been members of the GCA for over five years, you may recall an article on a GI bringback M1 called, "Ole's rifle" in the GCA Journal. This is the only privately owned M1 with provenance to the GI to whom it was issued during training in the US, carried with him to combat in Italy, damaged and repaired and returned to the GI while he was in hospital receiving treatment for a shrapnel wound and awarded to him by his CO upon their return to the US. He proudly displayed it on the wall of his home until just before his death. I am blessed to be the custodian of his rifle. I will never let it go.

The rifles pictured below are also unique in any known collection. Springfield Armory was manufacuring the last few rifles as National Match sales rifles. Among collectors these are referred generally as Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1s were manufactured by SA to high tolerance and the only NM marked part is the barrel. They are not bedded nor do thay have any other NM marked parts. They were sold through the old DCM at the Perry National Matches. They are only found on SA receivers. They are the rarest of NM M1s. While specific manufacturing data is available, it is not known how many survive in their original configuration; Any Type 1 must be accompanied by sale verification as such, generally available for a fee from the CMP who now have all of the sales records. The Type 2 NM is much more common (comparitively speaking) and features glass bedding, NM marked operating rods, gas cylinders and sights and will appear on any receiver since they were rebuilds of existing rifles.

M1 production ended at SN 6100499. This rifle is a documented Type 1 and is owned by Roger Minor. The two rifles pictured below are both documented Type 1 rifles having been sold out of Rock Island in 1958. They are unique among collections because they are the highest known consecutively serial numbered Type 1s to exist in a single collection. Their story was to be featured in a GCA Journal but internal bickering and politics not only led me to quash the story but to leave the GCA and M1 community. I do not fear posting their full SNs because my ownership documentation is flawless and anyone attempting to claim ownership will be swiftly and surely pursued to the fullest extent allowed by law for civil and criminal prosecution. 6099666 was purchased at an estate auction. It is better than 99%. It is unfired since manufacture and the only flaws are handling dings in the wood. 6099665 is a 98% rifle which has been upgraded with NM sights and has been fired in matches. They are both within 1000 of the last known M1 and are just stunning. I have shot 665 and can attest to the quality of the SN craftsmanship during the era in which these were made.

My Fn SPR A2 (pre 64 winchester action) pillar and epoxy bedded McMillan A4 stock, YHM Titanium Phantom, cdi precision bottom metal, badger bolt knob, CG X-Treme Mod 22 2-stage trigger at 1.5lbs. I finally finished her. I may upgrade the glass to something nicer if I ever find a place to shoot out to 1000yds.

That's a pretty rifle but I like the one on the table! Next shoot I'll bring 665 with some M73 and he can knock down metal silhouettes at 600m.

I don't really have a "shooter" but of the three it is the only one that I'll take to a range.

I was cleaning my guns yesterday and decided to stop at this point. I liked the amount of dirt left on it. It matches the beat up/etched wood grips.

I really like this gun.

I just hope you rotate the scope another 90° clockwise
Otherwise you might have a heck of a time haha

The 2.5-10x56 is nice. Dad has it on his M1A Socom II. Which reticle did you get? I think I like the Mildot with green center which is what Dad's is.

lots of KAC, AAC, LT, and BCM. :)

More time now.
AAC 51t brakeout, URX 3.1, KAC 2stage, LT gas block, and mounts, BCM upper, bbl, gas tube bcg. Bushmaster lower and Magnus here and there.

I'm never buying any rail but a URX ever again. There's no comparison to any others I've owned or seen.
