XDM 4.5 9mm, bar sto enxtended threaded barrel gunsmith fit, Springer Precision trigger job, and my TiRANT.
My sight pic is kinda bad but the sights make a pyramid with 2 different colors and the top is right at the top of the can.

80% lower built by me, engraved by Ident Marking , anodized by US Anodizing
the majority of my ARs are 80%ers

I'm a noobie, I don't know what an 80% lower is How much does it cost to get a lower engraved like that? I would love to have one.

it's a finish/completing milling/machining yourself lower.

Women, booze, cigarettes and guns, nearly everything I hold dear is controled by the BATF.
I don't care for a lot of things, but what I care for I care a lot about.

80% is referring to the completion level of the receiver. Anymore than 80 and it's a receiver, 80% or less and it is just a paperweight per se.

On an AR it means the owner has to mill out the fire control pocket and poke a few holes before it will function as a gun.

brandi,
this is a typical "80%" lower.

80% us just a descriptor, it means the people who sell this chunk of aluminum have submitted this doorstop to the BATFE and the ATF has determined it is not a firearm, at this point.
do any more to it,and at some point it becomes a firearm.
like i said, this 80% routinely cost MORE than a ready to go lower, BEFORE all the work, engraving, and ano.
its not to save money, but to make a specific replica.
the tin hat people say its to get a "untraceable machine gun" .
maybe for them, but there's way easier and cheaper ways to buy a AR that isn't 4473'd to you.
like answering a ad in the newspaper
my purpose is to build replicas of retro's that we cannot EVER get the proper lower. (cue Kris from Red Jacket making machine gun noises)
and it keeps me off the streets.

I do it because cutting metal is fun, and I love the product optimization thought train. Let's see, how can we reduce setups and tool changes....

YOU

SUCK!

That's sweet! I'd be tempted to keep the AR as mill finish

Hey, your drill press is much larger than mine! All I have is a harbor freight benchtop model.

Plus I'm sure you guys have families or something. I'm 26 and my shop is all I got!

From the range today.

I got about a 5" group at 100yds with Tula ammo; sucky. I'm hoping that with some better ammo and shooting position I can get those groups down to about 2" with the TA31F.

Working over a URX3.1

Ta dah! All tight, too bad I didn't get a pic of the cutting action.

The pair, just need a bipod for the 18" before I send it for coating.

How do you like shooting with your ACOG? I've got the TA11J-RMR and it's way fun to shoot with...not sure I get $2K worth of fun but at least I know it will work forever or close.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

Then again, I've $650 in it with the mount.

I used to have the TA47-2 mini ACOG (2x) and it was clean and quick to be precise with... Even just at 2x it felt like I could acquire as fast as my Aimpoint but take accurate shots more quickly...

And since it's a pic thread, an oldie but a goodie. I suuuurrre do miss the top one... It's on the short list of guns to get again
