Reading about these on GD. Haven't really considered the eclipse much since I understand we will only see a partial eclipse of the sun. But I would like to view it since its going to be hard to miss.

For anyone else living under a rock, the peak eclipse is occurring around 2:30 on Monday 8/21 for us NoVA folks.

Does anyone know where to get some of these glasses locally?

The 7-11's have approved versions but they are going fast. I picked up a pair a couple days ago in Fredericksburg but they may be sold out in NOVA. They had them at the checkout counter.

I've tried Lowes, Walgreens, several different 7-11s, Harris-Teeter, Giant, Target, and several other places. No luck.

I haven't seen any either. 711 gal had no idea what I was talking about. Gotta try and swing by library on saturday. If not I have to dig up my welding shield.

The 7-11 in Fredericksburg on Jeff Davis Hwy./Rt. 1 across from Mary Washington U. had them a couple days ago. No idea if they are still in stock.

They say a welding shield needs to be Shade 13 or higher for protection. Mine is Shade 11.

Yeah my welding shield is auto dim so that's not going to work. I've been looking all over and haven't found any. David

Overheard between two clerks at Harbor Freight today.
"Glad I'm not working on Tuesday when everyone returns the welding helmets we have on sale."

They have the auto-darkening ones that darken to shade 13 for $45 less a 20% off coupon.
