Teenage daughter?

You may find this shrub a suitable deterrent, and it often leaves a mark:

I need some plants around the house so I thought I may as well get two uses from them.

Holly is the answer.  And it grows great here in Virginia, just keep it pruned down so it doesn't grow into a tree.  Nice dark glossy leaves of pain and suffering, pretty red berries.

Holly is what we plant at homes that have that sort of issue, or might face it.

Firethorn

Can be a very large bush or easily managed to smaller form, evergreen, hardy and trainable growth for landscape possibilities.

Yep, same thing I posted above: Pyracanthra...very nasty. Holly and blackberry will scratch the skin, pyracanthra will penetrate a tennis shoe sole.

Barberry.  I live in Smithfield and use this as a security shrub.  I can tell you I have the scars to prove they work.

Chinese holly. It has the sharpest prickly leaves.

Yucca are some nasty fuckers, but easier to manage than some of the other plants...
