Are there any prerequisite classes to attend this one?  Would this be suitable for someone new to the AR platform?

Thanks in advance.

Based upon the zillions of carbine classes I have attended (and looking at the course of instruction), this course sounds like a good fit for you.

EDIT to add:

The OP states carbine must be zeroed prior to class. Go to the range (NRA, ESS, wherever) and zero your rifle
for a 50 yard point of aim/point of impact zero (target is at 50 yards and rounds impact at the aiming point).

The equipment list is minimal: rifle, sling, some mags, a couple of belt-mounted mag carriers, and you are good to go.

Don't focus on gear, focus on getting knowledge about your carbine and basic carbine fundamentals.

Thanks for the insight.  I just signed up and re-zeroed yesterday at NRA.  Not new to rifles, just new to AR's.

I'll probably pick up a decent chest rig, as I plan to take more carbine courses in the future.

Looking forward to learning..
