They are all over the state. I've killed them or seen them killed in Prince Edward,  Goochland, Appomattox,  Bath, Highland and Amelia counties. They will come into a call but not nearly as readily as a fox. I will call at least 15 foxes to one coyote.

got a coyote this past weekend in bremo bluff just off the james river...... then got tossed in said james river for the turtles to feast
