It's definitely not isolated to VAGunTrader.

Buying without paperwork is important to some people. I charge current used prices. But no background check and paper trail has its premium.

That site used to rock, now it's just a pain in the ass dealing with most of the posters and their outrageous prices, and absurd demands.
FWIW AND IMHO always

I agree! I still find good deals there from time to time but they're either on the other end of VA or I find it right after someone's already posted "I'll take it!"...

There are a few uneducated highballers there but that is true everywhere in other forums.

My experience has been different. I picked a LNIB Rock River Arms Elite A4 with Daniel Defense Omega Rail FOR $675

Came with factory and soft case. 4 mags. I have picked up other good deals there too.

Avoid the threads with more than 10 bumps and be ready to snag the good ones cause they go fast

Sometimes I'll go on gunbroker to kind of estimate how much a gun is worth, but I have to remember to subtract about one or two hundred dollars. Sometimes more. I know if I ever have any stolen, I am going to show the insurance agent how much it's going to cost me to replace them by showing them gunbroker prices. Don't really know if that will work out or not, though.

I still scroll through the listings and have found some great deals...but they are few and far between. I have had some reallY good experiences selling but then again I set my prices accordingly to sell!

What he said.

I also just ended up saving a few sellers that I've delt with before that are usually pretty good. I just see what they are selling half of the time.

This, if enough people don't look at the site, then there will be more deals for the rest of us

The bulk bullet deal is one of the more interesting things that I've seen so far,

Yeah there are several. I just laugh most of the time. You would think that most people would be able to figure out that the 10+ bumps with no takers probably has a good reason. I have gotten a few good deals and the bullet buy was nice. I have 2k 147gn 9mm RN coming.

I got into an argument with a guy on there who wanted something like 650 for a used Glock 17. He ended up saying he asked so much because he knew someone would lowball him. I td him he was an idiot and should simply tell someone no.

Not much really hitting there unless you want someones worn out 1970's era remmington rifle or a Glock thats been shot so many times it qualifies as an AOW. I quit looking I just buy new or trade around a small group of friends usually someone knows someone who has what I'm looking for.

Yeah if you want a deal you need to be quick and hope the buyer or seller doesn't screw you. A lot of that going around there. There are some really good guys on there.

You get both ends of the sword on VA-Guntrader and I'm on there a lot. I saw a guy trying to sell an unconverted Saiga for around $700. On the other hand I picked up my CMP Garand for $500 and my HK P7 for $500. Every now and then I'll score a deal on ammo or somebody will have some magazines I can use, and it's nice not to worry about shipping.

The only part which gets under my skin is when somebody says "I'll take it" and then never shows up when you go to meet them. Drives me batty.

I've gotten some good deals there. Buuuttt...most of the time it's a waste of time.

I've done a few deals through vagun trader, no issues at all. Maybe I got lucky.

I just ignore and scroll past the ads for guns that are priced way too high. I'm not the economics police, I don't get offended by it. The market will fix itself.

It's a good site, outstanding Adminstrator, and I've always bought from great guys. There is an internet syndrome going on where nearly everything is becoming list priced too much, but usually sold for a more reasonable amount. Firearms/ammo..etc are hard to gauge these days with regs, availability, sudden demand spikes, hysteria, lots of newbs...etc. The site has great potential of building some networks and support groups. The emergency prep folks there largely seem decent. I'm considering getting my farm linked in.

I've been on VGT since it started. The first two years it was full of screaming deals. Then it got really popular and now has some asshats. I usually deal with the same 5-10 folks and have gotten some great deals. With over 13k members signed up you are going to have the "I bought my rifle at the peak of the Obama scare and think I can sell it for the same price" folks and a good amount of level headed people also.

I've made some friends from that site but also know it to have its share of anti-government/anti-LE types who make me go .
