Hello guys. I moved to Chicago City around two years ago leaving my rifles in TX. Been out of the forum for around the same time. I honestly miss my rifles.   I applied for the FOID card hoping to have it soon. I have a few Semi-auto rifles I would like to bring and since Cook has an AWB,  I know I can't have them in Chicago Cook County except for the Mosin m44 but here I go with the questions:

1. Is there or does anyone know any company that offers storage for rifles out of Cook County?

2. Do I still have to register those rifles in IL if I bring them?

3. Am I able to ship the ammo I have without any problem?

I will appreciate any help. Thanks!

1 - There may be others but I believe Maxons, Des Plaines  and Article II, Lombard offer locker rentals.

What about Lockers?

ETA  Midwest http://www.midwestguns.com/firearm-locker-rental/  but the description  sounds small for a rifle

2 - No, no registration required afaik.   Thats been gone for quite a while.

3 - Not aware of any restrictions preventing you from shipping to yourself.   People also buy and get it sent to them via mail order.

Above is good info.

Regarding ammo, lots of sellers will not ship to Cook. Also, your foid address has to match your delivery address. So for example, if you rent a storage space outside Cook, ignore their no firearm policy, store your tools there, and try to ship ammo there - most sellers will not do it.

Got some info. Maxon Shooters - They still in Cook County so they told me a No. Midwest guns is a bit far from me.  However, Article II  said "safe's/lockers they are yours".  Hope this info help others in the same situation. Thank you again guys.

Hmm, doesnt Maxons sell guns on the banned list and let people shoot them on the range?   I knew they were in Cook but figured there may have been something with home rule that permitted them for storage too.

At least you found something.

Edit to add:

not on web site but I read in the thread below that GT, now Caliber, in Waukegan has rental storage

http://www.calibergunrange.com

Not to belabor the issue, but  the Maxons issue came up in  this illinois carry June storage  thread and some were told no while another poster said they had an AR stored there, so...shrug...dunno
