Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Provides an exemption from the prohibition on sale, manufacture, purchase, possession, or carrying of a switchblade knife to a person who possesses a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously issued in his or her name by the Department of State Police or to a person or an entity engaged in the business of selling or manufacturing switchblade knives. Effective immediately.

Am I the only one who finds switchblades to be slower to deploy than an assist opening type knife?

Probably not, but any chance to get rid of an antiquated and stupid law has my support.

Yep, we'll let someone carry a firearm, but not a knife?  They have seen too many movies from the 1950s.

Plus I'm not as concerned with speed as I think it would be easier for me  to use given arthritic flareups especially around thumb and wrist joints.

Probably did not help that committee was scheduled for 5:30 pm and supposedly senators  spent much of day in recess discussing state budget proposals
