Depends on if you live in a town or are unincorporated. If you live in unincorporated Kane County it would be the Sheriff if you live in a town/city like Geneva it would be the police chief. I live in unincorporated Oswego, AKA Oswego Township so for me it would be the Kendall County Sheriff.

Shoot, I sent mine off like 2 months ago for CLEO signature and forgot about it. I guess I should check.

If it was the recent form 1, the copies that should have been sent to atf were "atf copy" and "registrant copy". Any other way they will get kicked back to you. |

Went to my local PD to get my fingerprint's done, all good there.
I handed her the CLEO copy of the form 1 and said to her can you please put this in the chiefs mail box, no response is needed, the ATF requires me to notify him. The desk officer had no idea what a form 1 was and kinda freaked out "what do you need this gun for" she called her chief and his response was I don't need the paperwork until you are approved. I thanked them for there time and have sent the cleo copy priorty mail to them. Note another Female officer even said "just mail it to him" |

May I ask what you are in need of form 1 in Ill? I am presently looking at doing a short barreled rifle application for Il. Wondering how most CLEO's are acting etc.

Depends. I sent the Cleo copy to my local small town chief . He actually sent me back a nice response on official letterhead stating he recieved it . Thank you blah blah this is for your records. I was presently surprised
