Where are you in the Chicago area? Eagle, WI has McMiller Sports Center. There's the Aurora Sportsmen's Club in Waterman.

There's also an outdoor range in Bristol, WI, but the range rules are pretty restrictive, especially for centerfire rifle. Link

Wow that place looks nice and it's closer! Any others?
I saw Naperville had a trap range but it only allows steel shotshell ammo. Not sure what that is but it sounds like it would cause some wear on the shotgun. Also there's no pistol range there. Thanks! |

Willow Slough in Indiana is not closer than Buffalo and about the same distance from Chicago, but it's free to shoot there.
