Looking at doing some hunting on some land my dads owns. Can't find where the dnr has laws regarding this. We are going for pheasent. Does my dad need a liscence? Do I need a liscence?

By the way...This totally pisses me off!!!!  Any land owner that would have to get a license to hunt animals sustained by his land is just wrong...I don't own land but I would sure be unhappy to get a license to hunt my own property!!!!
I put that right up there with the Govt. taking half of peoples property when they die after they paid taxes on every dime they used to purchase it!!!!

rant off

Your dad shouldn't have to buy a hunting license since it's his land, but he does have to buy a habitat stamp.  That's according to page 8 of the hunters digest from the dnr.

Be sure and read the regs.  In order to be considered a "land owner" in Illinois you have to own 40 continuous acres.  That's gotten people in trouble before.

We have friends out West that have to get a "permit" to shoot deer on their own ranches...

It's 57acres so we are good there. Went and spent the $20 and got them anyways

Does not matter how much land you own for No Hunting License.  Approx 40 or more to receive Free Landowner Deer Permits.  But yes landowners still need $5 Habitat Stamp.

This, hell you can have 5 acres, and hunt on it legally. Like the poster above says you need the habitat stamp.
Deer is a different matter. You'd still need a Deer permit.
