Will losing your foid void your CCL when you fill out the app to get another?

You have to have both in your possession, so your CCL is not any good without the FOID card.

Wait until you have your FOID replaced to carry to avoid any problems.

An interesting question

   (430 ILCS 66/70)
   Sec. 70. Violations.
   (a) A license issued or renewed under this Act shall be revoked if, at any time, the licensee is found to be ineligible for a license under this Act or the licensee no longer meets the eligibility requirements of the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act.

You are not in violation of the latter clause that requires revocation since you are still eligible for a FOID card.

As for the former clause, the FCCA says this.

(430 ILCS 66/25)
Sec. 25. Qualifications for a license.
...
(2) has a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card

The language is ambiguous as it does not say "issued" which would mean for sure you don't get revoked for losing your FOID, or "possess" which would mean you would for sure be revoked for losing your FOID.

The ISP might read it either way and not be "wrong" about it.

Getting a replacement wont be an issue.

According to whats posted above, it says your CCL isn't valid if you lose your FOID due to no longer being eligible to have a FOID, makes no mention of getting a replacement FOID card due to misplacing it.

How you conduct yourself is your business, but much the same that an officer can locate your DLN info from the car should you be driving without in on you, they can just as easily check for a FOID or a CCL.

If you lose your FOID and reapply, I don't think that would make your FCCL invalid.

The ISP wants the FCCL to also serve as your FOID.  If you hold a FCCL, the ISP believes that carrying two cards is not necessary.   Eventually they will get this done.

Check the number on top of your FCCL and compare it to your FOID.

We are told FOID and CCL required when you are carrying,  wouldn't carry until after you get a new one. It shouldn't void your CCL, getting a replacement.

Sound advice.  Your FCCL should not be void, but you should have your FOID on your person.  Hopefully this will change in the near future.

Currently your CCL is not your FOID and both must be present on your person at all time when you are concealing a firearm.  If you are transporting or purchasing, not concealing, you must have a FOID. If you have lost your FOID apply for a new one immediately and save a copy of the application, the date it was mailed, send it with tracking and/or signature required.

I guess we will have to wait and see what happens when a licensee loses his FOID card and applies for a replacement.

I would not be surprised to see it go either way given the law is written in such an ambiguous way.
