We went for the first time last year. It was a blast and we will be going again this year. My wifey didn't shoot last year but she will this year if she is in town. Last year she was nervous about the compitition aspect but after seeing how low key it was and shooters of all skill level she's gonna give it a shot this year. edit: nice facilty and very nice people (staff and shooters). They had a good turnout last year in the morning when I went. If you want to run multiple events give yourself at least a few hours. |

I "think", but didn't do the math, that you get enough tickets to do every stage, but you can spend your tickets anyway you like. I didn't bring a shotgun so I did some of the other stages more than once. They also had a sighting in bay that I think was free. |

I went to this a couple of years ago. It was a lot cheaper, but you had tickets for events. It looks like this year there are no tickets and you can shoot as many events as you want. It was a lot of fun, but the weather sucked that year. I shot Wolf. you got a T-shirt as part of your entry fee the year I went.

ASC member here and newb to AR15.com
The $75 seems expensive but you get ALOT of shooting in for teh money. As said before, no steel cores, light armor piercing OR incendiary ammo. Grass fires have been an issue due to the dry conditions. There was a decent grass fire the other week due to unknown (to me) causes. The steel core no-no I believe is due to steel targets being used......they don't like them getting tore to all hell. lol. I can tell you this, I am going to shoot and voulanteering to help the cause. From what I hear its going to be a record year for attendance. The stages are going to be better and more exciting. If you want to see what it looks like. Goto youtube and search "ASC Zombie shoot" and you will find LOADS of videos. Have Fun, Shoot Safe! Brian |

I'm part of the organizing team for the Zombieshoot this year and want to address a couple of the questions and comments in the thread to minimize confusion.
1. Why did the cost go up over previous years? I understand you might question the cost of the event this year vs. the cost in past years. This year your event gets you unlimited shooting on 8 stages of fire that include Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun. Additionally, you will get to shoot 3 special stages including Zombie shooting with Black Powder firearms, another with WWII era guns, and a specially designed shotgun stage. This is unlimited shooting from the time we open in the morning until we close in the evening. In years past, you paid a small entrance fee and then purchased tickets to shoot the stages you wanted to try at the cost of $5 each. Stages "cost" between 1 and 3 tickets each. We went back into our records and tried to figure out how many stages the average shooter was participating in, how much they were spending, and adjusted the price of admission to relieve the need for shooters to manage and purchase additional tickets throughout the day. I think you'll find it a better value than we have offered in years past. 2. How many/what kind of rounds should I bring? As far as the number of rounds, It is really largely up to you. If you want to shoot all day I'd bring several hundred for each gun you are bringing. I can't say which stages you'll enjoy the most and want to shoot over several times. No penetrators, steel or tungsten cores, or tracer ammo is allowed. For your shotgun, bring birdshot. 3. Will there be T-Shirts? No T-shirts this year, but you will get a velcro-backed patch and a "Survivor 2012" rocker for under the patch. These patches were professionally designed and will look great on your gear. 4. What else will be there? There will be a vendor tent with shooting sports and tactical vendors and food will be available for purchase on-site. You will have access to tactical and firearms training providers and be able to watch a Demo by the Kane County SWAT team. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me ecallis@virtualomni.com |

Thanks for the info ecallis ! I'm planning on coming if the weather holds out that day. Looks like I'm going to need to get a sling or something for my AR. How do people typically carry their ammo throughout the day? Do they wear tactical vests that holds more magazines or do they go back to their cars after each stage to load up on ammo?

Tactical Red Flyer wagon. Seriously lot of weight and weapons to be lugging around all day.

Wagons are great solutions. You will be allowed to carry slung and holstered for long guns and pistols, but the ammo is heavy. some people convert baby strollers to carry guns and ammo too. I'd wager on seeing plenty of folks in tactical gear, vests, etc as well to help carry. |

Great event, took my daughters last year (10&12) and they had a blast. They each shot a couple of the stations and the staff was great with helping them out.
Question, with the entry being $100 at this point, are there any discounts for kids? I'd like to take them again, but $300 plus all the other costs is a bit steep. |
