I'm flying into Chicago on Saturday for 3 days of house hunting. Can you recommend any good cigar shops in the city? I'd like to grab a smoke or two while I'm there.

I didn't think I could move someplace that hates my hobbies more than my current state of California but apparently I've found it. While Chicago might be AFU, at least I can own an unneutered AR in the state.

Thanks guys.

Can't help you with the cigar shops, but I can tell you that IL is actually pretty EBR friendly as long as you reside outside of Crook County. Plenty of decent places to live near the Metra stations across the county line if you are working downtown.

Basically live in the collar counties, get a FOID card and you can have any non-NFA firearms you want, and no magazine restrictions. Or live in NW IN and you get CCW.

Good luck with your search. We need all the pro-gun residents we can get and one sunny day we may actually get CCW.

Blue Havana on Belmont is pretty good. When I lived in this hipster rat hole Blue Havana was the one saving grace.

ETA: By "hipster rat hole" I mean Lakeview East, aka Boystown.

I don't smoke - but if I did smoke a pipe or cigars, this is the place I would probably go.

If you are on the north side, my favorite by far is Cigar King in Skokie. Absolutely huge selection, a lounge, pool table, and most importantly decent pricing on everything.

Normally I buy cigars by the box through the mail, but whenever I want to get a stick or two to try out, this is where I go.

I recommend utopia cigars on the northwest side of Chicago. Just a really nice place to relax.

Thanks boys. I'll check some of those out while I'm criss-crossing town trying to find a place to live. Damn rental market is on fire right now in town and not making things easy.

I didn't feel like the gun laws were tough enough in California so I thought I'd move to Chicago.

I can recommend Utopia, and Up Down. However, I can strongly advise against moving to Cook County, especially if you like your ARs. These guys have given great advice about the train if you have to work downtown.
