My understanding is the waiting period begins when you sign the 4473 and NOT when he calls it in.

That is What I Thought too. I do understand him wanting to cover his Butt.
He has a $25 transfer Fee to everyone. $20 to me . It is Cheaper than any Gun store Transfer and Now most of the Gun Stores charge you sales tax if it comes from a Brick and Mortar Store
So I will Shut up and Learn to exercise more patience

The wait starts when the "application for (its) purchase has been made" under the ILCS. I have known FFLs that would consider the wait period to start when a deposit (the purchase price plus shipping) was left, and others who would wait until the firearm was physically present at the shop.

Their FFL, their rules.

The FFL I use considers the former above. Waiting begins at purchase (ie. Buds Gun Shop). He receives it and calls to let me know. Complete paperwork and leave with purchase.

Yes the clock starts after paperwork is done but it should be after the call and everything is clean, think about if you live in illinois you fill out the paper work and the call comes back bad your not getting your firearm until nics is approved.

my FFL charges 25 and has no isssues of doing the paperwork and starting the wait when I confirm the purchase/transfer and not from when he has the possesion of the firearm. I know that he is VERY cautious and 100% by the book guy. Also once, when I traded rifles, he refused to accept the package as it was damaged. The shipper got it back and had to ship again. my FFL offered to compensate for the second shipping cost and did the transfer for free!

My ffl charges the regulated $2 charge on any firearm, that is a good ffl dealer not a guy who charges what ever they want for a transfer.

I've used John numerous times, but it seems lately he is inundated.

I ordered a Citadel M1-.22 on Tues the 13th, I called and got his wife, and she told me that now they set up times for the transfer. Thats fine but the Kentucky gun Co. shipped it by Thursday the 16th... Well here it is the 19th and still no call from John. I sent a couple of e-mails and got no response. When I called yesterday I got a message saying his mailbox was full.

Not sure exactly what to do now except wait.

=:-(

I know several months ago he was out of town taking care of his mother who had taken sick. Perhaps he's visiting her again.

This is true..... Hell even when I lived in Bartlett I was doing transfers with John.... Now that I'm in Plainfield, its a little less painful.
