Hi guys. Taking a reno trip soon.
What to do for fun with kids? Is Virgina city worth the drive? Also is Circus Circus fun and safe?

Thanks!! Noah

Virginia City is definitely worth it.  Get up to Tahoe as well.  I'm not much of a casino guy, but Circus Circus seemed a bit run down the last time I was there.  It was a couple of years ago and I didn't spend much time so get some other opinions that may be current.

Thanks roundman! Preciate the info.
Were not gonna gamble, just visit family and let kids have fun at circus midway.

We'll hit Virginia city for sure.

Thanks, Noah

VC imand Tahoe for sure. The Truckee river park down town is pretty cool too. Might check out Mark Fore and Stike and oogle guns and taxidermy too. Google for location. Nice like-minded people.

If you go to Virginia City, be sure to visit the historic graveyard. I'm always surprised people skip this. Way more interesting and educational than most of the main street tourist trap stuff.

Circus Circus is decent family fun for one night. Scheels is a shopping destination the whole family can enjoy.

Carson City isn't far, either.  The kids may enjoy the railroad museum.

RR  museum is just up the street from the state museum at the old mint.

Historic building, coin press, native art, dinosaurs, rock samples, simulated mining, and a gun collection that includes the Gatling used at the old state prison.

Don't forget the state capitol, and stopping in at the legislature to see "Sausage" being made.

Harrah's Automobile Museum downtown Reno, Discovery Museum for the kids, Cabelas and Scheels for animal displays. Truckee River is moving good and worth looking at for a bit. Lots of museums out there to play with.

Reno got a couple indoor gun ranges with machine gun rentals these days as well, if you're into that. Weather is great for hiking and there's lots of trails for that. Best part is, half of Tahoe is in Nevada, so you never even have to go to CA.

OP, if you make it to Virginia City, please stop by and visit my friend Ron Warren's establishment called the  Silver Spoon Eatery.

Family owned and Patriots are welcomed and they are 2nd Amendment friendly.

Hope this helps.

The Circus midway is newly remodeled and has free shows, but most of the games are the same as before.

Thanks guys.
We stayed at Circus Circus for three nights. Ate at Calneva 3 nights, had prime rib dinner for $5.99!!!

We just cruised the strip, and played on the midway. We got two big bags full of stuffed animals. My older boy had a blast.

Went to Virginia City too, very neat little town!

Next time we'll check out all the suggestions you guys made.

Oh and Port of Subs is awesome! Wish we had one in Boise!

Forgot to mention while in reno at circus circus I had a major funny!
Only one elevator was running from the 27th floor the first night I was there and I ripped a huge nasty smelly fart from taco time food. Right before I got off i let her rip, then on the way out three fat chicks got in. I rounded the corner towards my room when I heard
a screach from the elevator!!!! It was the kind of fart that could peel the paint, and in a tiny elevator. The funniest part is they had the choice of dealing with it or taking the stairs from the 27th floor!
