Gene recently did some work for me on a 1911 and I had a minor follow up issue that I wanted him to take a look at. I have been trying to get in contact with his shop for the past couple of weeks. Via phone and email, no response. Does anyone here know if he is on vacation or something? He has usually been very prompt and courteous with emails I have sent him in the past.

I spoke with him a several weeks ago on the phone where he said he was busy from being short handed and I ran into him in Smith's in Dayton about 2 weeks ago. Just depends on the day or the week, I guess.

fun fact about Gene Shuey. He was the IFBB Mr. America in 1960. He is pretty low key regarding his accomplishments. I did a paper for an econ class in college on him. Had to interview someone his age. He was also in one of those 1960s muscle beach movies.

Just got an email from him. He was sidelined with the flu. Everything seems okay.
