Looking for a chassis dyno in the Las Vegas area that can accommodate a full-size pickup.  Recommendations?

Doing some upgrades to the beast and wanting to know what you are gaining?

I called around a ton and found two places.  One is Leading Edge Performance Facebook page, and the other is a personal reference to a fellow named Carl who works at Dynojet in North Las Vegas.

Leading Edge Performance wanted $875, cash preferred, to tune my LS6, with a 2 month wait time.   This other guy quoted me $725, but I am going in for a tune on the dyno next week.

Let me text this Carl fellow and see if he minds if I distribute his number, if so, I'll PM it to you.

Thanks. I'm in the process of getting ready to replace some long overdue leaking up-pipes that have been causing a loss of a few pounds of boost (and MPG) replacing the turbo wheel with an anti-stall billet unit, CAC boots, pulling the exhaust back pressure valve, and switching to a mechanical waste gate controller. 209k miles so it's due for some work.

Wanted to do a single run to see how far down I am now and then compare to the repairs and upgrades. I'd also like to try a couple different CPS sensors that monkey with timing to see how they play.  Not looking to spend all day on the duno. Just pull it up, run it up, done. Later it'll be a few runs with a few minutes between to change sensors around.

The shops are only geared towards smaller cars and while they might accommodate all wheel drive my truck is too long even for a 2wd run. Or they can't rate HP on the diesel because they can't get an electronic RPM value due to needing a specific wiring harness.

I would check out H&S Performance then if you can make it that far. They're in St G.

Sin City Performance in Henderson has a dyno.  No idea what they'd want for just a single run though.  They're on Sunset, east of the 95.

Any opinions on their tuning?

ETA: Their reviews are not great ...

Use to be a place on hotrod hill (by ocean spray) called bully dogs or something like that that had a dyno.

What about the muffler shop where I get my truck slogged? That dump not do what you need it ?

Yeah, I most definitely wouldn't recommend Sin City Performance. They totally screwed up my Chevelle engine when I had them Dyno Tune it.

It cost me $1000.00 to get it Dyno Tuned and it ran worse than before I took it to them. They not only didn't Dyno Tune it correctly, but they bent six Comp Cams Chrome Moly push rods, which I had to fix along with a massive oil leak because they ignored me when I told them to use the valve cover gaskets I had brought with me if they had to take the valve covers off to adjust the roller rockers. They used some cheap ass gaskets slathered in silicone which wasn't what was suppose to be used on the custom fabbed valve covers.

I have never dealt with them personally, I just knew they had a dyno.  Nice Chevelle you have there.  I have a 468 BBC in my '64 El Camino, it gets the job done.

That Bullydogs place (in the corner next to Jiffy Smog) has been gone for some time.  The dyno's at the smog shops don't do performance testing, just simple treadmilling for smog.

Can't recommend Carl @ Dynojet enough. Got my car back and he put in the work to make sure it runs perfect.

So I went and did a dyno test at Diesel Specialists in NLV.  First off, very nice shop.  Darryl, one of the owners, was very easy to talk with.  I'd put them on my short list of shops to have work done at if needed.

So my 15 year old truck with 209k on the clock managed and leaking up pipes 223 RWHP at 63 MPH.  Wasn't able to get direct torque readings since he couldn't pull RPM from the engine directly (diesel).  But, given that 63 MPH is approx 2540 RPM (3rd gear (1:1) torque converter locked) I can calculate by hand to 460lb-ft of torque.  Peak torque looks to come in just before at 463lb-ft @ 2483 RPM (62MPH @ 219 HP).

Stock specs for the motor is 275HP at 2800 RPM and 525 lb-ft of torque at 1600 RPM.  So going off the general rule of 20% drivetrain loss, it appears I'm about where I should be.

Figure the doctor likes to put me on a treadmill every year to see how my heart and lungs are doing, in the same idea I thought it be nice to see how the truck is doing.

Here's the graphing:

525lbft, guessing original Duramax/LB7?

Ford 7.3 PSD (International T444E)
With the exception of the Ford severe duty air intake and a 4G 200 amp alternator, its stock.

Glad to hear he was able to dyno it for you.  I'm surprised to hear he doesn't have the optical diesel RPM pickup, which is specifically for getting RPM from diesel or other electrically noisy vehicles.
