i wish you guys had reciprocity with Texas CHLs, but in the meantime is it legally permissible for someone to open carry a pistol in the city limits of Las Vegas?

It is legal for anyone to open carry here. The same rules apply to it as does CC, you cannot have it on any school property, on any government property, inside or on the property of any daycare, or in parks.

If it's listed on the door that no weapons are allowed, don't go inside. The signs don't carry the weight of the law but you will be starting shit and ti won't turn out well for you. While it is okay to carry downtown, there is a good chance you will be creating joinder with metro as there is no shortage of retarded tourists there who will call the cops because "OMG he's got a guununnn!". I have open carried inside a casino before. As long as you look respectable and are not on the gaming floor gambling they typically wont hassle you. Unless a retard makes a scene then they will politely ask you to leave. If you don't, they will politely throw your ass out the back door. Some, not all of the casinos have no firearms signs posted, be mindful to look thoroughly.

Good advice, thanks. But seriously, is the NV legislature working towards recriprocity and/or repealing the 700,000 population rules for state preemption?

Our legislature is only is session for 4 months every 2 years. They go in session next month with the new group elected last month.  Republicans will have control of the Assembly for the first time in 30 years, and it remains to be seen what their priorities will be in regards to 2nd Amendment issues.

Praying you guys don't get any of this UBC bull and also that they cut the blue card program in Clark county.

Makes no sense that a state that is libertarian in all other aspects has to have any gun restrictions.

The Nevada Legislature doesn't make the rules for adjustments in Nevada's CCW laws (including reciprocity/recognition). However, the Legislature can change the 700,000 population rule.

The Nevada Sheriffs' and Chiefs' Association (NVSCA) under current NRS has been tasked with making any peripheral changes to the Nevada CCW law. They can delete Nevada State reciprocity/recognition with other states based on several factors reflected in statute; including, but not limited to training standards, length of permit validity, photographs, fingerprinting, background checks, etc.

The NVSCA is where we need to focus our attention for any reciprocity/recognition changes.

Are there any laws against hollow points or other defensive ammunition?

Reciprocity is based upon similar training, but there is something more important. That other issuing state must have an ability for out of state LE to verify a CCW permit. The second part is a very simple concept, but not one that every state even considers.

"Must", "Shall", 24 Hour", "training", all petty details of unconstitutional infringement of our RIGHT!

CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY for all!

See, life CAN be made much simpler.
And the legislature are the ones who could make that happen.

In visiting, and conversing with residents, it appears Nevada is being run by Californian immigrants.  Like the floods of European immigrants to the US through the years, they left the totalitarian shitholes of their birth and immediately try to make their new home like their old.

Many of the questions asked in this thread are answered in handgunlaw.us.  Rather than acting solely on the information there, folloow the links to state sites regarding CCW, reciprocity, etc.  The perception of many of us outsiders is casinos are off limits areas, although I've never seen a posting, and the statutes make no mention.  We are so conditioned to be sheep we look for permissions in the law.  There is no permission required.  Laws are restrictions.  Lack of law means lack of restrictions.
