Used to be a nice area of town back in the early 90's.

It's not that bad, I'm east of Nellis closer Christy Ln. Most of the folks around here are working class, very little trouble. FWIW I walk to that 7-11 on the corner at night, by myself, a balding middle aged white guy. Never been bothered other than the beggars pan handling. It's an older neighborhood so it doesn't have the glitz of some of the newer areas like Summerlin and Centennial( NWNLV).But my home is 30+ years old no cracks in the walls or the foundation and I actually have a back yard that my neighbors cant here a mouse fart from next door.

It's pretty quiet for the most part, yeah the neighborhood is mostly Spanish speaking folks and yeah there is the occasional weekend party where you can the Oompa Loompa music until 0100 or later. Other than that it's not rampant drug dealers and gunfights. I've been here since 2005, but lived a few miles from here almost 30 yrs prior. I've been in LV since I was 2 yrs old, grew up here, I went to the old Las Vegas High downtown where the coaches would have us chase the crackheads & homeless off the field and out of the bleachers before practice. Or walking down town to skip class and see the hookers on Fremont street and at the time ( 90s ) downtown was a scary place.

I lived @ Bonanza & Lamb from 89-94. My wife worked in the Charleston & Nellis area managing apt buildings.
Couldn't wait to get out of that area.
That Walmart & KMART in that area always was one place to stay away from.

For many year I hung out at Dansey's ( Hobby Shop), but the last few years we lived in that area, I avoided going out solo after dark.

I prefer the older section of Henderson, off the South End of Water Street.

This thread is depressing even though I am up north. Reno is gotten pretty bad in some areas as well.

Makes me wish I could buy some land out of the big towns and become a hermit. Dont have the money for it

This makes me feel good. I just accepted a job in Vegas. I had been a little hesitant because I have always lived in a small rural town and moving to a city is a little intimidating.

I have discovered the housing market is not as great as it was made out to be, changes in forclosure laws have changed that from what I understand.

Nothing changed because of foreclosure changes, but the banks know that staggering releases of foreclosed homes helps in not dropping the prices. There are still great deals out there, but no comparison to 6 months ago.

This is occurring everywhere, not just LV

If you want the small, rural town lifestyle look at Boulder City, or Overton.

I love both of those towns.

Only reason why I didn't buy an expensive house at the time. I planned to stay in LV for another 10 more years or so. My end goal is to retire and move to Cedar City UT.
