The wind here in Pioche has been brutal today. My willow tree has taken a beating and you can hardly see the mountains through the dust.

How's the rest of the state fairing?
This is Nevada, we don't care how you did it in California.

Snowed earlier today, hard enough to turn the ground white in Gardnerville.

I remember as a kid growing up in the Ranchos that it snowed on my birthday one year, June 21st.

Had a tail wind to Ely today. Big dust storm by the dump on 93. Saw an antelope with (my guess) 16" horn but he would not run in front of the truck.
Sitting in conex with propane heater on, to windy for fire, waiting for the snow. Oh and travel trailer batteries will not hold a charge. Still beats the hell out of Vegas.

Edit to add. Snow is here. Burrrrrr

Was snowing this morning and now is raining like hell. Have a bunch of friends out camping in the hills that are probably soaked. Gonna join them tomorrow after work

This same thing happened last year. When I drove up to meet them they were all packing up because of the hellacious storm that rolled through saturday before memorial day.

There's snow in Tonopah....
Imagine a man when it all began
The pilot of "Enola Gay"
Flying out of the shockwave on that August day
All the powers that be, and the course of history,
Would be changed forevermore...

What he said.
Southern California is where reason goes to die in a coked-out, fake-tanned haze.

Timing was perfect as usual. Didnt snow saturday night just a tiny sprinkle of rain. Sunday was good to go and this morning was beautiful.

Since leaving Alaska I forget how nice the forest is. Amazing what 30 minutes out of Reno gets you.

We were up in Dog Valley. Only been up there a couple of times. Cracks me up how much 1000ft of elevation can change the scenery.

I don't think so Joel!

Try growing hay with no water.... The snow pack IS the reservoir.

See the brown triangles in the 1200 cfs range? That is the 91-year average.

When the river gets to 200 cfs, my area gets cut off for the year..... We'll be lucky to get one more watering next Sat. I'm worried about growing enough hay just to feed my animals, let alone get any to sell to cover expenses.

Note that the graph scale is logarithmic.

Where do you think your shower water comes from in the desert?

I don't care where it comes from, after living in Pittsburgh and battling those winters, I was wise enough to know I don't have to live in it.

Those of you who enjoy that crap, and the rust and other stuff that comes along with it, thats fine. But this desert rat doesn't want to spend another year shoveling snow, thawing the car before I can drive the car or 3 months of rust repair on my car.
