Menards just put an Amana washer and dryer combo on sale for $300 each, plus 11% rebate. Works out to ~$550 for a new set. They're simple machines and easy to maintain with cheap parts and clear youtube videos if anything ever goes wrong.

If you just want reliable machines and don't want to play around with a $3000 space-age set that has complicated problems ... these are the ones.
