Yes, but IIRC he can't step down until 2020, due to state law sarong you can only have one SC election per year.

He is 73 yrs old, time to retire.  This gives walker another person to add to the Supreme court.   That election will not be until 2020.  That means it will be 4 years be for klopenberger can run for the seat.  She may forget about it by then.

Much easier to run as an incumbent with four years on the bench.

Word is he specifically waited until after the SC election a couple weeks ago, to prevent Kloppencrapper from having a chance at a seat.

 

Now Walker can appoint a temporary (Bradley was serving as a temporary before she was elected) that will go until 2020. (Or at least next year?)
