Chippewa Co, no deer around.
A few gunshots in the distance but nothing much.
I did kill a few Mosquitos. That's right, November and there are mosquitoes.

I'm on private land. Ended up seeing 11 total. Saw a nice buck but didn't have a shot at it. My brother shot a buck while it was fighting another buck.....he mistakenly shot the small one. It was a 6 pointer.

I'm in Washburn County. Tons of shots at first but not a lot later on. There are tons of tracks out there, but they just don't seem to be moving much with the weather. Looks like shit tomorrow, but I'll be out there at 0445

Dunn Co checking in.  My group of 11 guys took 2 does and an 8-pt yesterday.  37 shots fired, none by me.  One old fudd farmer muzzle sweeping everyone.

Nice thing about their bad shooting is I take all the hearts.

Dodge County, saw 5 yesterday, none today. Quite a bit of shooting yesterday, today heard about a dozen shots not including the 9 in a row some person shot off.

Went to Dell Creek Wildlife area near Reedsburg today. Seen a deer couldn't tell if buck of doe (running in trees). Couldn't get a shot off and not fond of shooting at running deer anyways. Not a bad area. Have to explore it some more before next season. LOTS better than that lame Lemonweir area east of Mauston we've hunted for the last number of years.

Burnett County: Heard some shots early Sat. Then died.

Didn't make it to the stand today. The kid was sick all night & today.

Buddy of mine hunts western Burnett & he hasn't gotten anything either. Was warm & super foggy today.

Isn't that just insane?

We had some hatch a while back when it was in the 40's. I was in disbelief.

Still waiting in Marinette County. Opening day had pretty good shooting for about an hour in the morning but was real quiet the rest of the day. It did pick up in the afternoon for the last half hour however all I had shooting at was a really young buck...legal...but not what I was looking for. Turkey day off and then back at it. The last two years the metro zone hunt produced a good buck and it's looking that way again.

Metro zone hunting was good once again. These twqo guys came thru together on a drive...

Saw these two does this morning. They got within 15yds before busting me in my pop-up blind. We gave up on our deer camp deep in the national forest this year. 15-20" of snow on several miles of unplowed roads, along with very little deer sign, made us hunt closer to home. We have a hodge podge of adjoining small 5-12 acre parcels, which also controls access to a landlocked 50 acre swamp the county just took ownership of for unpaid taxes. Almost 100 acres with 7 guys, we made it work. Best part... less than a mile from home. If we had doe tags, we'd have filled them all in 2 days. This is where the deer are, amongst semi-populated areas where people feed them... not out in the big woods where deer browse has become scarce due to lack of logging, and the predator population has zoomed upward.

Seen a dozen does or more, several small bucks, but only one "shooter". Saw him from same blind I took these pics... he was with a doe, just before dark Wednesday, 50-60yds back through the trees. I confirmed a "rack" with binocs (was almost dark under those trees, with 15mins of legal time left), started to raise my rifle when a 2nd doe (I hadn't seen her sneak up on me at a distance of 20 yds, out the other window) busted me, she "blew & flew" and it was nothing but all asses departing through the trees, 5 in all... and "dere he was... gone!!". No shot.

eta... my rifle IS in those pics, leaning against the side of the blind just below the window. But, black rifle against black-out fabric on blind, no light inside, it disappears.

Polk county.

Deer were not playing.  We ended up with a 10 pointer, a 6 and a fork.  Two fawns and a nice doe.  We used to average over 30 deer a year.  Two hard winters, wolves and bears will really set you back.

"Got a 6 pt'r today. Its a bit on the small side though."

Wonder how many people chuckled seeing this on the highway back home.
