Just mentioning that for the last couple years, it's been held in KY. Come on out and keep it where it started.

Plan on it.

If the rest of you guys are thinking, "Hey, I don't ahve a bullpup, cause I've never shot one", this is your chance to play with them.  I'll let anyone shoot my stuff, and I'm sure most of the other shooters would be in the same boat.  Bring factory ammo, and you have the chance to shoot the whole gamut of modded and unmodded bullpups.  What better place to try them all out?

I'll hopefully be there with an A2 I'm in the process of picking up.

Bullpups leave nasty burn marks on my cheek... yup, I shoot left-handed.

Only a couple hours away?  Yep, I'll be there.

Party bus, stripped uppers and lowers tour post event?

You need to try an FS2000, forward eject. No problem for lefty's.
My favorite bullpup and go to rifle.

Yup, I know there are exceptions for lefties, but most that I've seen are right side ejection, especially in conversions to bullpup. You would think that all military issue bullpup designs would be ambi capable, and I believe they are. The Steyr Aug for example, can be set up for lefties (by changing the bolt). So can the Tavor. But both require partial disassembly, not field expediant.

"The rifle (Steyr Aug) is fully ambidextrous. It can be configured for use by left-handed shooters by simply changing the bolt for a left-handed one with the extractor and ejector on opposite sides, and moving a blanking cap from the left ejection opening to the right."

Just shoot with your mouth open. As an added bonus, you'll have yourself a brass catcher too.

Not trying to derail the thread, but I know I'm not the only lefty here... and not being shy I brought it up, and I'm done being a pain in the ass.

The event sounds like a lot of fun, wish I could attend and catch some brass with my big mouth, and shoot some belt-fed toys too

But that's opening weekend of duck season up north, and I'll be busy.

I blame any, um, bad ideas on whomever wrote this web site copy:

"Additional lodging, entertainment, food, and night life is available in Dekalb, which is also the home of Northern Illinois University!"

This looks like a lot of fun, and I'm definitely considering coming down.

I do have a somewhat dumb question though, what would be the legalities of a WI resident coming to IL for this with guns if we want to participate?  What are the things we can/cannot do/bring with us as far as firearms are concerned?

[Not a dumb question at all!

We don't have reciprocity for Conceal Carry, otherwise there aren't really any laws to be worried about.  Just keep firearms cased and unloaded for transport per Illinois State Police, and I would generally avoid Cook County if possible (on the highway you should be fine, just don't go stop in the Loop and wave your gun around) and you are good to go.

Any other questions please feel free to ask!

What about Title II items?  I know suppressors are verboten in IL, but can I bring my SBR if I bring a copy of my FFL03 and file a 5320.20 in time?  (I seem to recall that SBRs are also verboten, but there's an exception for Curio & Relic licensees).

Quoted:Yes, SBR's are OK in Illinois, and you should be able to bring your SBR if you bring your FFL03 and file a 5320.20

Well, the ATF seems to think otherwise - got my 5320.20 back today with a "DISAPPROVED" stamp and a note in box 15 saying "As a trust, you can not have an SBR in IL"

Even through the grantor (me) and the trustee both have FFL03s...  I guess some research is in order.

Sorry man, I don't know what to say, especially if you are are Class III

Let us know what you find out, and if there is anything we can do to help!

Not a Class III - the SBR is held by a trust, and the trustee who would be attending has a C&R license.  According to the IL regs, that should be sufficient, but it's not worth the time and effort to pursue.
