I didn't nor am I planning to go, but on the news they showed the entrances and there were big "No Weapons" signs.
That probably answers your question. |

State fair is posted.
Note that there is a heavy police presences there this year. I probably saw 3 dozen different officers while there on Friday. So if you plan to do the concealed is concealed thinking, just know there is a higher likely hood of being spotted. How much higher? Who knows. Also, no one under 18 can enter the grounds after 5pm with out a parent or guardian. |

I was there today, we went early. On the way in there were two security people at the checkpoint and they ignored us. When we left at 4:30, there were 6 security people and two State Troopers. The only time we were fearful was when a cow being brought from the livestock barn to the Colosseum started to get spooked and kicked/ran into a thankfully empty stroller from some idiot mom who was too close. There was a much larger police presence after 2pm, before two I only saw 1 hot (female) state fair cop.
My advice is to avoid Saz's, they've taken a quality nose dive. The Ruben rolls at Slim's near the grandstand were awesome. |

Do the police have weapons? i was under the impression that "no weapons" signs in wisconsin also applied to LEO. some debate about this was going on when the CCW law passed. IIRC as the language stands now, no weapons means NO weapons by anyone. |

Of course, the police will not protect you, no matter how many are there. Enter at your own risk. |

We were there yesterday –– was on the lookout for BFL but didn't see any. Thought I saw a Magpul shirt but it wasn't.
I thought about "concealed is concealed" but didn't. Tons of police presence, including pairs across the street at many points, extra screeners at entrance, layered, like some were just inspecting from the side. More than I've ever seen there anyway. All was well. Kind of crappy with the light rain, etc. Stuff was closing a little early. Meanwhile the expo building was stuffed during rain. Cream puffs were much smaller (less cream stuffed), disappointing. Tried "Fat Elvis" –– peanut butter cup deep fried in banana batter with bacon... 'twas a let down. But the bacon was good. ![]() Speaking of rolls –– Jake's Deli had a stand in the Wisconsin Products thing, they had corned beef or pastrami on rye (and Reuben rolls) –– yuuum. Corn sucked as expected, it is going to be hard to find some really good plump sweet corn in Wisconsin this year. If anyone finds it, please let me know. Will pay premium! I wish they would sell "normal corn" for $x and "super premium kick ass sweet corn" for and extra buck or two. |

On a related note, the Jake's Deli had me thinking about another deli I saw on Man v. Food many months ago and never visited 末 Benji's Deli in Shorewood.
Was in the neighborhood today so I stopped in for lunch. Had some "Mish Mosh" soup and this big pile-o-sandwich (corned beef and pastrami) on rye called the Hear-O Israel or something like that. It was $12.99 but I got my money's worth. Watch the video!! (not my picture) ![]() Man v Food http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kScYF951gVg |

So, with the large police presence at the Fair, how much less police presence is there throughout the rest of the City? Sure, they may be keeping the riff-raff out of the Fair, but then that same riff-raff is running around the rest of the unprotected City doing their shit. Nice.

I would imagine West Allis is working mucho OT to avoid a drop in staffing in other parts of the city. The fair grounds are not in the city of Milwaukee, it is its own little town. |

There are both security and LEOs. The LEOs are armed and the security is not. I was there last night. Yes, the security wore yellow shirts and had walkie-talkies. I think if they see an incident, they're instructed to yell "STOP THAT!! Or, uh... I'll yell STOP THAT again." The state fair police, state patrol, and MPD that were also on scene tended to stand around in groups of six, facing inward, and talk. Instead of splitting up into groups of two and, you know, like patrolling or something. ![]() |
