What we need is for you to have a plane or two that need to be destroyed –– i.e. really cool reactive targets for Roasted Nuts.

Ever watch Dillon's "Machine Gun Magic"? They tired shooting down a all foam RC plane. Took them quite awhile and IIRC, it was usually only if they hit the engine, servo, or the receiver. The foam can take quite a bit of abuse it would seem. I bet there are youtube videos of people trying this too.

It wasn't non-corrosive. Dammit! I scrubbed and scrubbed, and it still looks like shit.

Why...........Why would you ever assume the off all the calibers on the planet...................that surplus 8mm would be non-corrosive? That being said take her out and shoot the hell out of her. Heat up the barrel and at the range punch the bore with some kroil and when you get home use more kroil coupled with JB Bore paste and some good copper remover. Oh yeah.........use some non-corrisive ammo when you take her to the range.

Damn, this is more my speed. It's like the Lorcin of toy planes.

The aircraft thing caught on at the Big Sandy / now MG Shooters shoots in Arizona.

2003, my first-ever Big Sandy shoot. Night aircraft shoot begins at 3:32. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR1HdlNFD8A

2005- when ammo was cheap and life was good! Daytime aircraft shoot starts at 0:48: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z05UF_pTYAE

Now they make the aircraft "reactive." You'll never be able to reuse the plane, but it's a lot more fun.

Here's a 2009 video that has a really good explanation of and introduction to the shoot - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tDaze3vhhE. The explanation/intro starts around 3:00, you'll get a chuckle at 4:21, and some friends bring out their gun at 5:08. (And now you know who is to blame for getting me into bigger stuff.)

I really miss those shoots.

Mike
