My sister lives in Colorado Springs and in the current political climate has decided she might like an AR which I'm more than happy to advise her on. However, since I live in ID I have no idea if AR's are even legal in CO, and if so do they have any restrictions? Thx!

None what so ever.

Mags are technically limited to 15 rounds but it's completely ignored.

Just to be sure I'm understanding correctly, AR's are legal in CO but mags w/capacities greater than 15rds are not? Thx again!

ARs are legal and flying off the shelf.  I visited a store and the clerk told me three gheys came in bought ARs and now want to learn how to use them.  The only restriction is bringing in new magazines of greater capacity than fifteen rounds.

Mags owned before the ban legal. Only real restriction is buying new mags. No provision for mags bought out of state or rebuild kits and law is not really enforced. Basically cant buy assembled mags over 15 in store or online

Wife and I are coming for a LONG visit in a couple of weeks. We`ll be in the South Fork area fishing and riding in the trails. Am I good to go with a pistol, ammo, AR, ammo mags etc. in my truck AND in our Can Am commander while we trail ride and visit the area in our truck?

You can not drive around with a "loaded" rifle.  I assume that means chambered (vehicle / atv / utv).  Loaded pistol is fine.

It is actually all long guns that can not have a round chambered. Pistols can have a round chambered and can be concealed while in your vehicle.

Eta: Above is for your truck. Your Can Am is considered an OHV and you are therefore legally required to register it to operate it on public lands. In addition, transport of firearms on an OHV must comply with game regulations as specified by the Big Game Regulations. Long guns must be fully unloaded in the chamber and magazine. In addition, they must be fully enclosed in a hard or soft case.

I got my OHV sticker, fishing license and Habitat stamp on line yesterday. I`ll pick them up when I get there. I was unaware of the "hard case" issue while riding around on the jeep trails etc. No exceptions?
