I'm looking for something in the Denver area, or Colorado springs area.

Something along the lines of a level 2 course, with a well qualified instructor.

Anyone know anyone?  And don't say Kenaz tactical or PG firearms training.

Most other CCW courses DO NOT include actual shooting, and are taught by amateurs.

Because they're not LE's, they're amateurs

Ha, yeah, pass. This was part of my problem with PG firearms Training, taught by a cop who thought he was hot shit because he was a cop. Being a cop doesn't automatically make you a good instructor. But thanks for the suggestion, sincerely.

I'd say Jim Torrez. He has 30+ years of experience (military and cheif of police)  he teaches at Red rocks and a lot of the local SWAT teams. I've trained with him a little bit. Great guy.

I cringed a bit when I saw that on the site but took my first class with them due to a recommendation. No egos, no war stories just good solid instruction from POST certified instructors that are able to translate tactics and skills to the armed citizen. Go or dont, no sweat but don't judge them over some bad copy on a site.

I'm sure no one here ever did anything like that. Comparing them to PG is apples and oranges. When an instructor won't provide details of their le experience, as with PG when I asked, then it's time to run away. Graham and his instructors will gladly provide those details, just ask him.

I've been fortunate over the years to have attended both Gunsite (starting in 1978) and Thunder Ranch on my own dime as well others on  yours. To me they're a good local option.

It's really kind of sad that no one has opened a quality facility here in Colorado, I truly hope you find a class/instructor you like. Let us know who you choose.

When Valhalla was open over here, it was an amazing facility. I never got to go, but I have a friend that was an instructor there and know a couple other people that worked there. The problem was it's location and exclusivity.

That's good info man, thanks.  I will consider them.

And yeah, it seems we are kinda hard up for a good well known facility and instructor team here.  Ron Avery does come as far as Montrose from time to time.  I thought about that, but then I have to arrange a place to stay and that's just more than I can swing right now.

Is Kelly still around? I haven't made it to one of his classes yet, but keep meaning too. Reviews from members here were always good.

Kelly doesn't qualify as a "level 2" shooter let alone instructor.  Basic class perhaps, but that's all his experience can support.
