I bought a 4runner last fall and I finally have it ready to take it on a trail.

I'm not a gear head, nor am I real experienced out on the trail.  I'm looking for a fun place to just tool around.  I am in the Springs and I am looking for somewhere west of here, maybe near Divide or Woodland Park.

Any ideas?

Excellent resource

By the way, what is ready to take on trail?

Make sure you have (at minimum)

  • Tow hooks front and rear

  • Recovery Straps

  • Shovel

  • First Aid Kit

  • Survival Kit

  • Drinking Water

  • Suitable Tires

  • Tire Gauge

  • Full Size Spare / Tools to change

  • Leather Gloves

  • Decent map and/or familiarity with the place you intend to wheel

Depends on how built his 4-runner is...

I havent played in those areas a lot since before the Hayman fire, but playing successfully / confidently in those areas required some experience, and a lightly built rig didnt hurt.

I'm probably not ready for that.

The truck could probably handle it though.

It might be more challenging than I'm looking for, but anyone have experience?

I highly recommend that you do not go alone. The easiest way to find other people to go with is on Facebook.

Eagle Rock is a blast. did it in a 2000 Jeep TJ, stock with sway bars disconnected and 31" tires. This was back in 2004? 2005?

A couple of challenging segments (Needed lift, bigger tires, more ground clearance) that I had to go around. The upper part can be / was a bit technical.
