Hey all I was offered a job in Everett and I'm looking at an apartment in marysville. What do I need to know about the gun laws in WA. Have the libtards ruined the state or will I be good to go with an AR pistol. I want to make sure I understand before I sign a lease and move across the country only to loose my rights. We pennsyltuckians are afraid of the west coast liberals

Suppressors, AOWs, and SBRs are legal. MGs and SBSs are not. Concealed Carry is easy, no class or major hoops to jump through. All transfers must go through a dealer, no private sales without going through an FFL.

Yeah the amount of hippie libtards kind of scares me. I grew up in NY so I'm used to libs. Howe about shooting ranges? Any long range options out there? I have a bench gun that I'm hoping to be able to use

There are some places that are deep out that you can do longer shots at but they aren't advertised. There is a few "pay to shoot" outdoor ranges with distance too. Others are state land off the beaten track. Marysville rifle club but the wait list is long from what I have been told. FT Lewis range is accesable to civ people, and a few more options.

Everett and Marysville is decent. South of Seattle Sucks in my opinion. (sorry guys that are down there, as I said, my opinion)

if you're looking to rent anywhere in Everett Stay off Casino RD, and in Marysville Stay off Cedar ST.

Marysville Rifle Club is open to the public on Thursdays from 10-430 they have 50, 100, 200, steel at 230ish.

Plantation is further north and is a pretty decent county run range.

There is also state land but people like to keep their spots low key.
Link Posted: 11/12/2016 8:11:15 PM EDT
[#7]
A big heads up on Plantation, you are not allowed to go down range. Which means you either rent a spotting scope or bring a spotting scope. You also wont get your target after you are done shooting which may make load development a big of a pain in the ass.

That was a huge surprise to me, and a rather large disappointment.

Otherwise its a nice place and I would recommend it in a minute.

Marysville is nice but congested, Everett is mediocre at best, lots of shooting options, you have several nice gun stores in the general area, plenty of Fed/State/ type lands to shoot like abandoned gravel pits.

Lots of good hiking and sight-seeing close by.

If Marysville is the hood where is a good town to rent within 45 minutes of Everett the further from Seattle the better. I really don't want to live in an area with issues as I have a wife and a baby at home. It's hard to find a place from 3000 miles away. I live near the Williamsport 1000 yard club is there any place where I can shoot that range in Washington???

Mill Creek, Everett, Marysville, Lake Stevens, Snohomish, and Monroe are about your best bets. Arlington would be pushing it, Stanwood would be a nightmare for the commute.

Like said above, Don't rent anything on Casino Road in Everett. and if you can be in the North, or East end of Marysville you will be better off. Lake Stevens is nice, Snohomish is nice, but not much in the rental's, and Monroe is full. Sultan and Goldbar don't have squat for apartments, but if you want to get a house, you could prob find something.

If you send me the name of the apatments you want to move in to... I will let you know ;)

Marysville is not a bad area, it is not crime free but not even close to being a bad area. I have never felt unsafe in Marysville.

Stats including crime

Arlington would be the next place going North, Marysville is a lot bigger as far as shopping, etc. Burlington is further North and nice, many here might not agree but nothing wrong with Burlington. Burlington puts you right at a 40 - 45 minute commute. A lot depends on the hours you are working, obviously earlier A.M. less traffic.

Yeah this could be important, if you are going to be hitting Boeing traffic then living in lake stevens/snohomish/monroe will make your commute worse. Mukilteo, lynnwood, mill creek, bothell, snohomish, lake stevens are more places I'd be looking at instead of marysville.

Outside of Seattle (for the most part) you will find this is a pretty conservative area. There was a thread in GD where some guy did a cross country road trip and he mentioned the most Trump signs he saw was in Washington State.

I have lived in 10 different States and one of the things I noticed here right away is areas considered bad or sketchy was by Washington standards. What they call bad here is upscale if you have ever lived near Memphis, Oakland, St Louis, etc.

Yeah I found that Everett is less liberal than Seattle, it is a military and blue collar town. There is a group of elders who hangout on the corner of Colby and California with American flags often.

I highly recommend  looking at NORTH Everett as south Everett is a mall, traffic and over achievers. Plus if you live in N Everett everything is in walking distance, i.e.  bars pubs and places to drink.

potalamarketplace.com/

I lived at library place for a while and it was worth the money, the staff was great and the building secure. Not sure about the other one, but these places are popping up Downtown. There is a pretty good gym and good places for food.

Here is a local range:

PM me when you get here and I can tell you about gravel pits

One thing to consider that is now state wide is the homeless problem. Seattle is creating safe spaces for heroin users to shoot up and has chosen not to prosecute property crimes, it is a leftist utopia and many of those overachievers end up in Everett. The end of month looks like the  walking dead sometimes, so you need to be careful. Again this is pretty much everywhere now, I have been here 20 years and never seen it this bad. Compared to other places like Detroit and Chicago it is still safe, but that is changing.

Some good things about Everett are: easy access to the cascades, you can pick up HWY 2 downtown, great views of the sound, a ferry terminal is close by that can get you to Whidbey Island and the Oly Penn, drive North and can cross deception pass or continue up the Chaukanaut  into Belling ham.  There is a quiet but large shooting community in Washington. Most of the better stocked shops are down by Tacoma depending on what you need.

Hope this helps

There are even bigger groups of elder heroin addicts on every other street corner in Everett.

If you're working third shift, you can go all the way up to Mount Vernon if you want. The commute at night is very easy. I used to do 62 miles in less than an hour. I hope you're not moving all the way here to go to work at the Shithole.

If you do end up living in the Burlington area, you have very easy access to Bellingham (25 minutes or so North).

Lake Stevens and be done with it.

Shooting location wise, it only goes out to 100 yards but take a look at Everett sportsmans club (no spaces, dot com). In between LS and Everett off the trestle. Spartan but friendly. But you have to wait till spring, it's underwater at the moment.

I think we used that charge on a felon who had stolen a gun and given it to another felon who used it in a shooting pretty much just because we could.

I'll echo what R-32 said. The further east or north you go the more land and cheaper prices you will be able to find. You shouldn't have to worry about traffic working nights but both Hwy 2 and Hwy 9 are 2 lanes so one crash and its a mess.

Property crime in the county is among the highest in the country because the courts will not do anything about it, but violent crime is low. Only major current issues are gang related drive-bys in South Everett and Mt. Vernon.

I moved from Kirkland to North Marysville and the one thing that I noticed right away was a LOT of OPEN CARRY.  Never see that Kirkland!! Or Seattle!!  Everything is cheaper compared to Kirkland.  Property tax, utilities, etc.

Well, yeah :) The north end is all we've been talking about, should be less than 20 minutes from everything recommended so far. And 6 months is a stretch...we went late March to mid November this year.
