Half inch (.50) minus bore size of at least .308 (more likely .310-312 for AK bullets) leaves .192 inches, or ..096 inches (308) per side to .093 inches (.311) per side for threads. And that does not leave any room on either side for the bullet. Normally, at least .020 on each side of the bullet is pretty minimal. That leaves you about .043-.046 for your thread thickness, and that is damned near paper thin. I would not mount a flash suppressor on threads that thin, and I sure would not mount anything longer or heavier...hence the term baffle strike kit.

1/2x28 is fine for 30. 1/2 threads are common on 9mm barrels, which are obviously much larger than 308. Colt uses it. Pretty sure it'll be fine.

aac and silencerco both sell brakes/hiders in 1/2x28 for .30 cans, I wouldnt worry its not uncommon for ak's.
