[ARCHIVED THREAD] - I'm leaving Maryland and moving to Kirkland

Alrighty Gents, I need some help. I'm moving from Maryland to Washington. I own pistols and long guns (couple of ARs). Can anyone run me through the process of getting my guns to Washington. I'm assuming that I can't just show up with pistols and ARs as a non-resident and have it be alright.

I'm assuming that I'd have to ship everything from Maryland to a Washington FFL once I've been a Washington resident long enough to do a pistol transfer.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

You can transport them with you without issue.

You are not required to register firearms in the state

I moved all my guns up from CA when I got orders here two years ago... it was liberating.

First thing I did was swap out and destroy the stupid bullet button from my AR then throw away my 10 round magazines for my M1 Carbines.

It is a little more complicated than that. There are a few steps

Step 1. Pack up all your guns
Step 2. Move to Washington
Step 3. Unpack guns

As you can see it isn't as easy as just moving but with a little time you will be just fine

The only problem you may experience on "that side" of the State is the majority is a bunch of liberals. No offense to the gun toting minority over there.

He is coming from Maryland and shocked that he can just show up with his guns. I am thinking that our liberals will pale in comparison to the liberals that he is used to.

Wait until he finds out how easily a CPL is obtained here.

Just leave the east coast way of thinking back there as well and you'll grow to love it here. We're trying our best to hold the line but the influx of people from all over is making it tougher.

Bring a couple bushels of blue crabs with you.

Miss eating those fuckers. Dungeness is good but blue crabs covered in Old Bay

I know right?!?!?! It took 4 DAYS from when I applied for mine until it showed up in my mailbox. I can't believe they move that slow.

Sure, your guns will rust because of the rain, but it really is as simple as bringing them with you. No registration or anything. No magazine capacity limits, no restrictions on AR-15's (semi-auto ones), and you can even legally own suppressors as long as you comply with the Federal requirements. Currently, Washington state does not allow private citizens (who are not class3 dealers/manufacturers) to own select fire weapons.

If you are a US citizen you do not need anything special (except for some gun types not allowed here).

If you are not a US citizen you will need a special permit from the State's DOL.
