We've have this BS background checks on private sales for awhile now. I see ads that say "buyer pays transfer fee" on Facebook, Armslist, etc. Anyone have any actual numbers on how many private background checks have been done? And furthermore, has anyone heard of someone getting busted for not doing a BG check for a private sale yet? Just curious.

Ive seen at least 1 guy claim on facebook's local gun forums that they were busted for 594 noncompliance however that guy was a felon in possession according to a court records search/king county booking info, that someone else turned up and cut and pasted. No arrest for the other party.  Some of the most vocal "I will not comply-tards" on facebook have some obvious experience with being arrested according to the court records searches for their names. 1 guy in particular pled down a felony driveby shooting to a misdemeanor intimidation with a firearm as well as multiple arrests for drug possession. There's another who stands out with his constant angry replies to simple questions about non-firearm stuff , he has had several restraining orders/protection orders in the last 5 years according to the court records database. Not sure if he has one in effect currently but he backed out of a deal at the last minute a coupe days ago when the seller insisted on using an FFL and offered to pay the fee as well.

As for the total number of person to person transfer, I don't think there's any way to keep track of that info as it's not reported to NICs/the state where the firearm being sold/transferred originated from.

No CPL = refusal to do a BGC = not a person I'd sell too.

5.  I've done a grand total of 5 since December.  Probably would have been 2 or 3 more since then, but my schedule wasn't working out for the buyer and sellers.

FIVE.  Not even 1 a month......

The first rule of 594 is.....

There is virtually no way for anybody to enforce it with few exceptions.

That said, I've just decided to quit selling anything.

What's sad is the dealers out there who supported it thinking they'd be raking in transfer money. And now transfers are free at WAC I've heard....

Speaks volumes. About how many non-private transfers do you do in a month?

The Pro Shop at West Coast Armory does them on a daily basis.  We did lots in July (since we did them for free that month).

I've done 1 at I5 Guns for a rifle. Quick and easy, couldn't ask for anything more. But that's typically how it goes at I5. Great group of guys & gal who bend over backwards for their customers.

It is a hassle to do since it's an extra step and extra money you could be pocketing, but it's not difficult by any means as long as your schedule matches up with the buyers.

In that same time, 100.  Which makes for easy math.  95.2% non-P2P, 4.8% P2P.

Oh, but it's saving lives. All those guns slipping through the gunshow loophole are now contraband and gun violence has ceased to exist.

Last month I asked about this at my local shop. They have done 5 since December. I think most people just ignore the bull shit law.

Did any dealers openly support 594? I know a few and I think we all agree that basically every gun law is bullshit. On fridays we meet up for dinner (3-4 guys with FFL's) and at some point we always end up bitching about how dumb gun laws are, especially the NFA.

Naw, but I can think of one for sure that was probably jerking off the day it passed, and a few who probably saw it as an unfortunate but happy accident.

There is one that I think came out in support of it on another local site... not for the money because he actually thinks it's a good idea. He's a bit of a socialist still.

Another one I have heard less than stellar things about the same store I'm willing to bet money is the same one Madcap72 is speaking of.

I also know of another that was in favor and wanted others to raise their transfer fees.

The Seattle Times has an article today saying how deaths by guns are now higher than auto accidents.   The breakdown shows almost 70% are suicides and the rest is crime.  So, they keep counting suicides with guns as "gun violence".

They indeed say that authorities must look at the causes and not try to patch the symptoms.  However, we all know how this goes.

They must be mistaken. This law was going to fix the suicide by gun epidemic. I sat in the studio while Ralph told everyone how that would work.

Hence we can see that the old saying "the path to hell is paved with good intentions" was inspired by democrats' ideas.

Method of suicide is not a causal factor.
Canada has the same suicide rate as the U.S., their method of choice is asphyxiation.  Rope doesn't cause suicide either.

Kind of sick that they want to generate municipal revenue from gun violence.

And NRA/SAF/NSSF is going to hand them their collective ass. They are going to spend more in lawsuits defending this stupid ordinance than they will ever collect. Will the people hold them accountable for wasting their money? No. They will piss and moan how the NRA came and rained on the feel-good parade.

Fuck them and their BS I-594

Their bullshit initiative is pointless for any firearms that were owned prior to its inception.

Who really knows when where or how anyone ( you - me or the guy down the street ) sells or buys a firearm privately.

Yes I know the law and what 594s details ... do I give a rats ass ? FUCK NO.

Do I admit publically that I am violating the law? FUCK NO

Can every single gun sale / purchase be documented that 2 consenting adults partake in ? FUCK NO

that's all I have on the subject ... carry on
