Just got my 2015 property tax bill and I am like WTF over ?

Went from $3988 in 2014 to $4605 for 2015

Levy rate appears just slight increase of 12.49 up to 12.62 so no major gouging on bills / schools etc ...

It looks like they have raised my actual home value ( not land ) by $42K in 1 year ??

My question is .... has anyone successfully challenged them and got it reduced or have 1st hand knowledge on the process of someone you know doing so.

I am in recon stage as I think I want to challenge them on this but want to know the risks involved 1st.

My hunch is they are aware a home next to mine recently sold that was: BIGGER - NICER ( ie: more expensive than my home in any appraisers eye by close to $50-60K+ )

They are trying to spend an extra $100 million on the new court house complex in Everett, money has to come from somewhere.....

You have to first pay the tax in full before you can challenge in hopes of getting some portion back many months down the road...

I just bought this house for a lot above their value so this year they're going way up... Previous owner must have been lucky... House prices are also soaring right now which just means the county sees green... Still better than King any day of the week.
