Will try and make this one. An actual meeting the the Reps might do us some good.
Sir James... |

This addresses the complaint about the Saturday rallies: we're "playing to an empty building"
|
|
I have made it to the other rallies. Unfortunately just can't seem to do every one. Have to be in California for work.
People complain about other rallies being on the weekend, but not everybody can make a weekday rally. We have jobs. That is the difference between us and certain others. |
|
This is important to set the tone to the legislature at the beginning of the session!
Last year these rallies helped stave off proposed semi-auto and magazine ban legislation after the Sandy Hook craziness. The millionaire elites may be able to sway the sheeple with massive dishonest press blitzs to pass referendums like I-594, but these rallies influence the legislature directly. The more press these rallies get, the more the quiet every-day gun owner realizes they are not alone. Complacency kills! |
|
I will be there, boss is an asshole but I think I can give myself a few hours off.
|
|
|
I have to drop my kid off at school then I will be on my way, where do we park? I've never been to the Capitol building.
|
|
DNR building parking lot usually has plenty of room. 400-800 yards walk.

The speakers did a good job. I just wish that the guys in the back would have waited to get rowdy until the speakers were done. They made it a little hard to hear at times. I have no problem with what they were doing though.

Yes, the speakers did a pretty darned good job. |

I really wish I could have gone, but I didn't get to bed until 0400.
How was the turn out? |
|
At least 200, possibly 300. I now have regained the feeling on my right hand. It was chilly.

NPR reporting people were walking around with automatic style weapons...
I'm trying to find the report on their site but all I'm seeing is the story about a guy with an AR pistol getting called out by the cops. |

Please comment on HB 1245, which repeals I-594.

Some events need to be on weekdays when the house and senate are in session so we can have access to the reps and senators. Others that are held on the weekends do get better turnouts, but allow for less access to your elected officials because they just plain aren't there. Most of the house and senate hearings are during the week, so if you can make it to those it is appreciated, but it is also understood that some folks don't have flexible work schedules or understanding bosses.
Do what you can 2WP. It is appreciated. |

What's the odds of any of this passing or the governor signing it? Also I thought they had to wait two years before doing anything?

I wasn't able to stay the whole time, but turned out for a bit. Being unemployed with a flexible schedule has to be useful for something once in a while, right?

They need to wait 2 years before AMENDING the initiative. 2. They can overturn it with a 2/3's majority vote. 3. Bills can be run alongside initiatives to clarify certain points, or undermine other pre-existing statutes that effectively nullify portions of the initiative. As far as 1245 passing, my guess is fairly slim, but we were very surprised by the SBR legislation. As sad as it is, what would really help would be arrests of people due to selective enforcement of 594. |

What we really don't need are actions of the folks who were at the top left of the steps. Stop thinking this is carnival ride folks.

Ya its front and center on the komo news site saying that they changed the rules etc etc. Why is it so hard to go to Olympia and have good showing with no loons distracting from the cause? Their actions just drew everyones attention away from the real issue and that is I594! Now people just see news articles of pictures of people wildly brandishing firearms in the capital and the capital rules being changed.. ugh, frustrating..

Couple of them look like liberal plants. The rest look like a bunch of fucktards that are fucking all of us over through their ignorance.

Best chance to be rid of it is in the courts, the only thing that would possibly make it through the state Leg and be signed would be changes of the most onerous/draconian parts of 594. |

I havent been able to make it to one of these rallys but if I was there I would have called a couple of those poeple out by asking them, "what are you trying to accomplish?" Are you really trying to help the cause of getting rights restored? Because wearing a gas mask or brandishing firearms in the capital so thats all the news sites take pictures of etc, does us no good at all. Distracts from the real issue just so these individuals can be attention whores. I call for a more proactive group to try and disuade these individuals from participating in disruptive ways. |

http://www.examiner.com/article/earth-shaking-newspaper-editorial-lauds-gun-rights-leader
Proponents of confrontational politics argue they did nothing wrong, more than intimating that anybody who disagrees is either a lapdog or tyrant. Critics of what occurred have argued, as did the newspaper and Gottlieb that the demonstration harmed what rights advocates have been working for. That much is confirmed by the exchange of ideas in the Seattle Times today, responding to a Danny Westneat column on the incident. The editorial noted, "some of the weapons were loaded, and on at least one occasion a chambered round was ejected onto the gallery floor. Deputy Minority Leader Joel Kretz, R-Wauconda, added: "All the rules of gun safety were violated. It's too bad, because I don't think they represented your average gun owners.” Unfortunately, whether they represented average gun owners or otherwise, their behavior is being used by gun prohibitionists to justify their further rights erosion efforts.
